Yes, we shall see. It is so weird that this is happening. I also wonder what else is being affected. I am going to try calling Spectrum this evening after work. I will let you know what I find out.

Spectrum/Charter is blocking UHH email. And they don't offer a public postmaster contact to resolve this. So the only thing to do is for their customers (you) to contact them and explain to them that you expect to receive UHH mail. And don't listen to their customer service telling you "everything is fine with your email account". Ask them to escalate it further. It's not about your specific account or your account's settings. It's about their mail servers refusing to accept email from UHH. Nothing else to be done at this point.

I can watch a pic render slowly from the top down like back in dial-up days. Anything further about this?

Interesting, the datacenter that hosts images is in Virginia. So I would expect people on the west coast to have problems, but not in PA, regardless of the provider.

And to confirm, the pages load quickly, right? It's the images that are slow? Or are pages also loading slowly?

Is there any way possible that we can start a petition to get Quixdraw back in good graces on UHH?

No need for a petition because Quixdraw wasn't banned permanently. He was suspended for 3 days for posting politics outside of the Attic and ruining forum experience of people who don't want to see politics when they view Main, Gallery, etc. It's a very simple rule, really. And most regulars know it.

His reaction to the three-day suspension was to tell me how he won't be sacrificing his principles. Lots of words, but the gist of it was that he is special so he won't be agreeing to not break the rules going forward, and if I don't reactivate him without it I must have no honor. Or something like that. I didn't read much into it. But apparently to him promising to not post politics in Main would compromise his principles.

He is still not banned, just suspended until he acknowledges that he doesn't intend to continue breaking the rules in the future. I see no point in reactivating the account of someone who posts politics outside of the Attic, keeps doing it after multiple warnings over the years, and when suspended refuses to confirm he won't keep doing the same if reactivated.

A petition won't really do anything here.

Slow images or slow pages?

I recently changed hosting and one person reported that images are now loading very slowly. I'm trying to figure out if it's related or not.

I don't mean uploading an attachment when you submit a post and having to wait for it to upload.

I'm talking about browsing the forum with pages loading quickly but the images taking a while to load. Or noticeable slower than before.

Has anyone else started experiencing something like this?

I created a new section for birds. Going forward, please post pics of birds in flight or birds on water or any pics of birds into this new section "Sub-Gallery: Birds" instead of the Gallery.

This is done to free up the Gallery a bit and to keep bird pics all in one place.

No need to subscribe to this new section as it was enabled automatically for anyone who was subscribed to the Gallery.

I'm going to keep this announcement sticky for a few days to make sure more users see it.

We never had such checkbox. You are always logged in until you log out or until your browser clears cookies.

Please let me know if you still notice any old images not showing. Everything should be working fine at this time.

The images will be back in 2-3 days. A drive that hosts those images failed. I replaced it and they are being re-uploaded from backups. About 2.7TB of images for those years that are affected so it will take a while to upload.

No way for me to tell remotely. The problem was not with the browser though.

Can you ping the host again? I'm curious if the IP address has changed.

I can see every post so I think I'm connecting.

You should see 161.47.131.36, not 192.168.4.1.

When your computer intends to connect to static.uglyhedgehog.com it tries to connect to 192.168.4.1 instead of 161.47.131.36. You need to look into fixing that. That's the root of the problem. There could be many different causes, and unfortunately I can't diagnose this remotely.

If I had to guess, I would say 192.168.4.1 could be your local router/gateway/access point. Not sure why your computer resolves static.uglyhedgehog.com to that IP address. Could be some kind of a proxy or firewall or antivirus placing itself in the middle.
