I’m looking for a good, simple intervalometer that can schedule hundreds of images for star trail photography. Any suggestions?

PIXEL FSK 2.4GHz Wireless Shutter Remote Release Control for Canon 7D series, 5D series, 50D, 40D, 30D, 10D
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LCN48SI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dq.fBb8Y6MMBQI have this one and I have been very pleased with it. This is for Canon cameras but I would imagine it can be purchased for what ever camera you have. It has features that I have not yet tried.

I'm a Nikon dude.
I bought a wired Intervalometer as my first unit. Soon I longed for a wireless one.
Then a while later, my wired one disappeared when the Blood Moon came around in 2015.
I went through everything I had taken that evening and didn't find it. So I bought a wireless one.
Now that is nice! I can set up the camera/tripod, and run it from inside the house, or from inside my tent when out in the desert.
They don't have to be expensive. They just plug into a port on your camera and do a remote timed release.
I use mine to make time-lapse video's. But at first did Star Trails.
The one I have has been discontinued I guess.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P4U3M06/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1But if you scroll down a little there are many others.
Great item to have. Does remote release as well.

I have several I bought on eBay. They work fine.

Hello gents,
Thanks for responding.
Just to verify: Is an intervalometer the same thing as a wire remote control that has the capability to shoot hundreds of photos remotely?
I would use the device as follows:
1. Star trail photography
2. Landscape photos where I want to be in the picture
3. Bird photography where I can build a feeder, grab a beer and shoot away.
Also, do you know of a good flashlight that can illuminate objects 100-200 feet away? I bought what was advertised as a high powered flashlight but it only illuminates objects 25 feet away.
Again, thanks for responding.
PS - I shot my first Milky Way photo. I got an image but it wasn’t very impressive as I was shooting in Illinois and I was using an 18mm, f3.5 lens. I’ve ordered a Rokinon 16mm, f2.0 lens that should be coming any day now.

The intervalometer will do those items. It will give you the ability to do timelapse and also give you the ability to set your exposure time greater than 30 seconds.
As far as flashlights, you are asking the wrong group...we don’t like light😂

Don’t you use a flashlight to light paint fore ground objects sometimes?
No, outside of startrails, I use some type of tracking equipment and take long exposures that are moving with the target. So I take a foreground pix earlier, then layer it into the Nightscape photo.
I’m guessing you are looking to do more of Milky Way/landscape shots, so I can see where you would use it.

Thanks for your input. I’m such a neophyte at this game. I haven’t gotten to Lightroom, layering and star tracking. I think my next step is purchasing and learning Lightroom.
Again, thanks for explaining the steps ahead.

I’ve got a cheapie from Amazon that I don’t particularly like. I’ll check these out.
