I was driving through a wildlife refuge on a late April afternoon, around 5:30. It was cloudy and not the best lighting conditions.. I saw nothing really and had not raised my camera until just before leaving, when I spotted an Eagle sitting on a narrow piece of ground. I stopped thinking eventuall he would take off and I might get a good action shot. So I set up and waited, and waited, and waited, for about an hour. all he did was look around a lot. Eventually I was surprised by the following event.

Finallly, after almost an hour, he takes off.
Finallly, after almost an hour, he takes off....

And he did not go very far.
And he did not go very far....

He thinks he has something!
He thinks he has something!...

Look what I found.
Look what I found....

Patience pays off! Bloody bill. But where did the fish come from? Someone else's meal? Great series, pictures telling a story.

I believe that the fish was too big for the Eagle to catch and carry. A good guess is that it was "caught" near shore and the Eagle dragged it up on land. It looked like it had already been munched on. I think the Eagle was just guarding it while I watched and waited until it decided in was time for dinner.
