Does anyone shoot with this. Do u like it? Pros and cons? Is it versatile? I mainly do wildlife and landscape; however, from time to time I do shoot Seniors, families, and weddings( in a way still wildlife!!!)
Thanks folks

I currently use Sony a350 which is a dinosaur and needs replaced as sensor has spots on photos. It has been cleaned 1x already.

I love my A6000. The A6500 is quite a bit better than the A6000 having in camera image stabilization. The 'eye focus' is excellent for shots of family, kids, weddings etc. Great for landscapes including night photography too. Wildlife might be its weak point. The longest native aps-c 'e' lens is 55-210 (315mm FF equiv) which can be boosted 2x with Sony's 'clear image zoom' which is supposed to be pretty good and much better than 'digital' zoom.. Or choose from nearly any lens available with the correct adapter.

It is a very good camera, but at that price point, I would push the budget a
Bit more and get the Sony A7III that is shipping tomorrow officially. The price is $1995.00 but if you purchase from greentoe, you can get it for like $1850.

Don’t confuse with a77Ii camera which is a A mount camera.

I really like the camera and shoot the 70-200 2.8 and the 100-400 Sony lens they work great. All Sony lens work fantastic with this camera. It is fast and has great accurate autofocus. You won’t go wrong with this purchase. With this camera I mainly shoot wildlife and high school sports (football, basketball). The A7lll looks great, it is a full frame camera but for wildlife the aps-c format will give you that extra crop factor with the Sony a mount lens.

You will love the A6500, but you will need to get a proper guide book like David Bush to get the most out of it. In particular, look up how to set up the camera for 'eye focus'. For some weird reason, it is buried in the menus and needs to be dedicated to one of the buttons. It will transform your portraits / people shots. It might even work on animals.

I have the 55-210 lens and wonder if you can explain how to use the "clear image zoom". Thank you. Bill

I've had the A5100, A6000 and the A6500 (only for a few days). The A6500 is a great camera but rather small, make sure you try at a store if you like the grip. Personally I prefer the Fuji XT-20, check it out!!!

On the A6000 it is in 'Custom Settings' (gear symbol); third tab: zoom settings. Options - Optical Zoom Only, Clearimage Zoom, Digital Zoom. Select Clearimage Zoom.
It is only available in jpeg mode and doesn't work with certain focus settings.

I expect the A6500 is very similar.

I owned the a65 and then upgraded to the a99ii. I also have the a6000. I considered the a77ii. The a77ii is the top of the line APS-C A-mount camera. It has a lot of the a9 and a7rii in its DNA. It is a great camera and has lots of lenses for it at very reasonable prices. (Almost twice the price for the same lens in an E-mount). That is the main reason I got the a99ii, it uses the A-mount. You will be very happy with the a77ii vs your a350. On the other hand the a6000 is a very nice camera too. But it uses e-mount lenses. Sony does make the LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 adapter to use A-mount lenses on that camera. Sony currently is marketing the a6000 with 2 lenses for a little over $600. Either camera, a6000 or the a77ii are very good upgrades and you won't be disappointed. I would give the edge to the a77ii since you already have the lenses and are familiar with its operation. Choseing between the a6500 and the a7iii, I would opt for the a7iii. The a7iii is the latest and greatest and not much more than the a6500. It takes all the goodies from the a7riii, a9, a99ii and a6500, and condensed it into an affordable touch screen camera. It would be a tough decision between the a77ii and the a7iii. For me, it would be the affordability between the two. Happy shooting.

Regardless of the lens, ClearImageZoom is available if you are shooting any "quality" that includes JPG but not if you shoot raw only. It's a menu selection and you can select it with or without digital zoom which is not as good but zooms much farther.

If you set the camera via the menu to allow clear image zoom and then select raw only it will just not do it. Then if you have the quick menu (f button) set up to quickly select jpg or raw+jpg it will allow it without needing to be told.

The LA-EA3 adapter will let the a6500 use A-mount lenses quite well (but not the a6000). If the lens itself is AF then the AF will work well if not quite as well as with an E-mount lens (accuracy same, speed a bit less). For example, the A-mount 70-400 lens is extremely good on either the A7 series or the a6300 and a6500.

The LA-EA3 is a lot smaller, lighter, cheaper, etc. than the "4".
