The F35 and the Blues Angels do it for me.
They both portray impact, speed, and technical skill.
Good photographs.

I'm having trouble deciding which pics to enter in an end-of-year contest for my photography club. I have one of them picked out on a prior thread (Team Aeroshell), but can enter up to three, B/W or color. I kind of want to add a jet pic and another prop pic, but it doesn't matter. Here are my current choices - I think they all have a shot IMHO.

Nice shots. I like the first one. Allot of impact in that image.

It's the Blue Angles for my vote.

This is hard choosing! I love the second one. Hard pressed to choose between 3 and 4. I finally came back to #4.

Well, the post I did about a minute ago seems to have disappeared. I wanted to edit it, so returned. If this is a dupe, please forgive. It's a hard choice. I immediately chose #2 because I really like that plane and I think the attitude of the plane in the image is striking. I went back and forth between #'s 3 and 4 and finally settled on #4. It shows a lot of power and the precision of their flying is clearly defined.

I think I'll print 3 of them out (I already have Red Bull on paper) and see what they look like. Someone mentioned the B/A pic might not be as well received because the emblems aren't quite sharp enough, but they'll be viewed from at least 3 feet away so I'm not sure. if nothing else I'll have more choices to pick from if I decide I have enough wall space to frame them. The one pic I've already chosen (http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-521447-1.html , about 1/2 way down page one) is at a framer getting dry-mounted as it's already printed up as an 11x14 image and that's the mounting size required. The other two I'll use double-sided tape to stick them on to a piece of foam board. Walmart's stuff was all mangled on the corners and I would have had to cut something down to size so I wen to Hobby Lobby and got two nice 11x14 sheets at $4.99 each. One side has grid lines and the other side, which I'll present on is bright white. I'm going to have to order more 8 1/2x11 paper soon at B&H.

1 & 4. The other 2 are fine, but, generic.

Hey, I like 'em all, especially with the composition of #1 and #3 where the background, without being imposing, gives you a perspective on how harrowing the action of that flight. Good work!

First and fourth. They show a sense of drama, a sense of the horrible outcome that just a minor mishap could cause. The one of the Blue Angels gives one a feeling of the precision that the pilots have over their aircraft. The other two are just pictures of airplanes.

So far...I've chosen the Blue Angels and Skip Stewart (ribbon cut) because of their print size - I think they will make the most impact being able to fit more fully on the foam board (7 7/8 x 14 at a 16x9 aspect ratio). That being said I prefer the colors of the Red Bull plane, but it's (currently) only printed as an 8x10. Red Bull may be a shade sharper - I could reprint - but Skip shows split-second timing which may wow the judge more. My other entry, linked above, is a full 11x14 image and being mounted. I'll take the 3 choices in to work and ask there also. It's good to have varied opinions. The judge is from the St. Louis Camera Club and rumor has it he likes bright colors. Maybe I'll just get them all framed after Tuesday evening!

Speaking of mishaps, I just heard on the news earlier this hour that a Thunderbird F-16 crashed during practice in Las Vegas and the pilot was killed. They cancelled the upcoming show.

# 1 captures the illusion of hanging in time, defying the physics of flight. It also clearly demonstrates danger with the people in the frame.
# 2 captures the afterburn cone, but nothing else (obviously telephoto and probably cropped)
# 3 is boring
# 4 demonstrates the precision of nearly impossible flight manuevers

# 1 & 4 without hesitation
