You are right. A refurbished unit is brought up to a higher standard than a new body.

I bought a Refurbished Telephoto from Nikon. It had a Warranty and it is Great. Must buy from a Manufacture that you Trust. Nikon, Canon etc. etc. Good Luck

from where and is it a model for your country?

i would easily buy US branded refurb from a reputable shop. But I also handed over $2100 to a guy at starbucks a few weeks ago...14-24, 70-200, 16mm fisheye, carbonfiber tripod (2).....

I bought a refurbished Canon 6D II with a 24-105 kit lens from Canon in December for $1299 and could not be happier. It was the "Holiday Special". Sold out several times but I'd check often and once it came back in stock I hit the buy button. Both units look and perform like new. What I thought was interesting is while the Holliday Special was $1299, they listed the body only at $1599. Doh! Love me some Christmas.

Nikon Rumors recently posted an "unconfirmed" report saying that when Nikon refurbished a camera or lens, it will have two 'dimples', one on either side of the serial number. Has anybody with a refurbished item noticed this?

Yes. My refurbished Nikon D7100 has the 2 dimples. I got it from Cameta. After a year and 7 months I had to replace the shutter, paid $262.00 ;(. Not in Cameta, in a Nikon repair shop.

I’m asking a question about refurbished cameras. What do you guy think about them?
My thoughts is if it going to brake it all ready did and it’s been repaired dy a authorized dealer.
And it should be better than buying a used one.
Your troughts please.

I purchased a refurbed A77 from Sony a few years back. It came in original box, new strap, battery ect. and looked like new with a 1 yr. factory warranty.

The only way to go.

Mine all have dimples because all are refurbished. I didn't know about that, though. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know that? Does it apply equally to all vendors?

Yea refurbished is fine. I have bought 3 refurbished lenses from Adorama and Cameta. I can't tell them from new. They both have warranties 90 days and 1 year. I get new bodies and refurbished lenses.
