jerry, the talking point over here is the attack in Salisbury of a Russian ex spy and his daughter..supposedly with a deadly nerve agent only manufactured by the russian military, a policeman who went to their aid was also taken very ill. All this has set off a diplomatic row, with Britain expelling 23 russian diplomats (watch out for their response). I think Russia is flexing its muscles for military action!

You have to take the news with a grain of salt. It seems the flight attendant didn't know about the puppy as it was being smuggled aboard to avoid having to pay extra fees. Russia has been meddling in other countries affairs for years ( just like the USA). Lots of these headlines are simply sensationalized by whatever source first reports them in order to get better sales/ratings/clicks and other sources just run with the story without checking it.

I believe you are right. I doubt very seriously there is going be any space army or anything related.

That likely didn't make much of a difference since all newspapers get their info from a few select sources (like Associated Press or Reuters) and editorial boards are opinion-oriented, not fact-oriented. The problem lies in the biases of the sources. We used to have relatively unbiased sources years ago but that has changed...

I spoke of the mid 1960s. The fact that the editorial boards were diverse, it provided a better base for fact finding. The editorial boards kept others on their toes knowing that they would be challenged on their prints. And as you state, that has changed. Most look to their ad revenue streams now. Also, I doubt if they know what a proofreader did.

Totally agree. Remember when we had actual journalists who simply REPORTED the news, rather than creating/sensationalizing it? Hard to find a source that isn't biased, or that doesn't include spin to make us "morons" know what to believe. Despite what you think of our president....I have to agree that there is a lot of fake news out there.

To quote a band from our youth, "I read the news today, oh boy...About a lucky man who made the grade...And though the news was rather sad...Well I just had to laugh". I read the news and shake my head. What in the world is going on? Are we all mad? My poor granddaughter.

Camerapapi's commentary is right on. It's getting so that one can hardly believe what is seen and heard, let alone the exaggerations and out of context quips that are printed nowadays. Oh for a grain of salt!

People heard the dog barking for two hours before it went quiet.
