Did you inadvertently change white balance?

What does the next shot look like?

My WAG is your camera was set to a bracket mode, probably 2 stops, and the next shot will be way over exposed.m

My guess is in auto mode the camera read the light as being more abundant in the first than the second image and adjusted the aperture setting / shutter speed accordingly.
Now you know why it is worth your while to get to know how and why to shoot in manual mode. 😄

There's a label in my exif reader I'm not familiar with - maybe someone else has info. The field title is "custom rendered." On #1 the entry says normal, on #2 it says custom rendered.

Not only is the shutter speed shorter and the aperture smaller in #2, but there is an exposure compensation of 1.33. That does seem like bracketing, no?

Sometimes in auto if a slightly different angle is used the light changes enough to fool it. Especially out a window. I've noticed this happening sometimes. Were these handheld? One of the reasons for pixel peeping.
