My wife and I would like to go on a rafting excursion in Big Bend NP in April, 2018. Was wondering if anyone on UHH has done likewise and which outfitter they would recommend. We would be taking a 1/2 or 1 day excursion. Would appreciate any feedback.

Have always gotten good advice from UHH'ers, co I hoping someone has personal experience in this regard.

Thanks.

Dvorak Expeditions out of Salida, CO does trips on the Rio Grande through Big Bend and the Lower Canyons downstream. I've known Bill Dvorak for many years and he is an excellent outfitter. https://www.dvorakexpeditions.com/rafting-trips/rio-grande-river-rafting/

Hi, I did Big Bend and stayed in Terlingua last Sept.
I used Bigbendrivertours.com
The river was high so we did a half day trip down the Dark Canyon in the State Park. I think its the all day tour that goes through
Santa Elena Canyon in the National Park.
If the water is too low they use a canoe.
I thought what I did was ok. Really liked the first hour or so but then it just started to get boring, all you see is cane weed after the first half.
Bottom line I didn't think it was worth what I paid for it.
I loved Big Bend though, great trails to hike and scenery to shoot. The town of Terlingua is pretty interesting it was a mining town for mercury out of
zanzibar rock. Now its laid back and has a kind of live and let live enjoy life vibe to it.
I highly recommend the Don's BBQ it is excellent.
