That is a fair point! My apologies to the Beatles.

No. This has nothing to do with stating facts, which is the thing that you do not seem to understand. As I have said, you are a good photographer, I like what I have seen of your work, but your interaction in this situation is deliberately challenging and disruptive, like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum. It is certainly not the behavior of a professional, nor of an adult. This is not an argument or disagreement about dpi/ppi or however else you wish to describe it. You deliberately, and with intent, posed a conundrum with intention to disrupt. It is about anti-social behavior, and that you are demonstrating in spades. You are being an A-hole unreasonable person in this instance. Why the vendetta?

You deliberately set out to disrupt Ron's new venture, which may provide significant benefit to UHH. Now Ron can be a surly bugger person at times, and I've been on his ignore list in the past - I do not blame him for that - but right now you hold the same status in my estimation as Chris T. Interpret that as you will.

This "mine is bigger than yours" thing is getting old but you are over the edge. The reason the topic was closed really had nothing to do with PPI. That was your facilitator. It was closed because of your very visible attempt to lay a mine field. You were found out and commenced to try to blame another for the result your actions.

Our photo club did something like this for our monthly review of photos that would go up to the regional contest for judging. We all used to judge to pick our five submissions. Now only three out of ten "trained" club judges get to do the review and make the pick. We can do our own review while they do theirs but our input doesn't count. I dropped out because their process became too exclusive, too focused on competition.

i find myself in total agreement with you. the titles of "mentor" or "expert" are arbitrary. one only has to look at the Avedon/Penn controversies during their lives and post mortem in re: their work. this will be a fairly useless thread, as i doubt any of the above will be able to assist someone who uses 5x7 glass plates and prints in platinum. or am i supposed to start a thread for only those who use this process, and exclude everyone else?

If you want a very specialized thread, focused on 5x7 glass plates and prints in platinum, then start one. Or go see Wonder Woman, get the blu-ray version and look at the back story about how the daguerreotype was created.

What about this new venture excludes people? It is moderated for good reasons. If an open discussion is wanted then the main photography discussion section is available to do that, which is where we are now.

On the other hand, perhaps the mentors need to not to have anyone one their ignore lists. Some currently do. It is one thing to have a closely moderated forum, but to stand on 'stage' but not to take questions or dissenting opinions elsewhere is a different thing. Perhaps we need a Bette Midler standard: "I stand before you, nipples to the wind!"

To present oneself as an expert also requires exposing oneself to questions and criticism, perhaps outside the safe harbor, and out on the dark and the rolling sea.

You can start a thread for any subject you like, if nobody is interested they will exclude themselves, hopefully you won't get too many giving you advice to stop what you are doing and switch to digital , refer to you as a dinosaur ... ect but that is the joys of a largely unmoderated forum.

Not everyone will be an expert in hedgehog pickling in 19th Century France. Some may just google the subject. Or give you related information about the use of brine or vinegar for pickling of vegetables. You shouldn't be surprised that experts are usually experts in limited fields. The more exotic the topic the less likely you are to find a satisfactory answer, although in such cases alternative forums may be suggested.

Perhaps you are best able to assist someone who uses 5x7 glass plates and prints in platinum.

What was the mine field?

Perhaps something that you stepped on while taking a sedate morning stroll?

Perhaps I should have said stepped in!

I don't see you winning here. Go check out Stormy Daniels! She has a much stronger opponent, and seems to be doing quite well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntl5Da1vblI

No, it has everything to do with it. It's why you're avoiding the question about how printer drivers affect web images. You're on the wrong side of the facts, but your ego can't allow you to accept that fact.

Now questions are called "conundrums"! You guys are hilarious. So far the question has been called a conundrum, a mine field, word games... anything to avoid the fact that it was a question.
