I use Acronis for backup and I have an Acronis rescue media on a flash drive and another one for Win 10. However, one must be able to boot to a USB device in order to run the rescue medias. I have used these multiple times in the past. I saved my friend's PC from Ransom-ware last week using the Acronis rescue media and loaded a backup file created for his PC by Acronis. I wanted to make sure I could boot to it with my PC. I tried for hours to boot to the BIOS and give a trial run. I was not able to enter the BIOS by pressing F2, F7, F10 or F8. I tried many, many times. I even shut down the PC, disconnected all devices, opened the case and took out the battery and waited 2 hours before reinserting the battery. No luck - still was not able to boot to the BIOS and then to a USB device.
I don't give up very easily. I searched and finally found this article and a method to enter the BIOS. It was new to me, but it does work and has resolved my dilemma. It's simple:
1. Click on start and then power.
2. Hold the shift key down and click on Shut down.
3. Press and hold F2 key and hold in the computer power button. Do not release the F2 until the BIOS screen displays. Voila!!!
Here's the link to the article.

Maybe this may help you in the future. I hope you never need it.

Thanks for the note. Hope you never do need it!😃
Thanks, Mark; I am also going to bookmark it.
as a computer repairman , most windows computers now have you hit the delete key while starting up to get into the Bios unless someone has installed a password for the Bios to lock you out . Most of the older ones will show you while starting which key to hit to get into Bios . I have only had to use a special method twice over the years
Thanks, but delete key does not work on my PC.

I recently bought a new PC. When getting it set up, I found that I couldn't enter the BIOS - the instructions, such as they were, said to hit either DEL or F2, but neither of these worked. It just booted up as normal... After some time struggling with this, I remembered that I had stopped using a particular backup program because of a problem like this in the past. Then, I remembered that somewhere back around then, I had bought a new mechanical keyboard, rather than the membrane ones which don't last 5 minutes. I dug out an old keyboard and swapped them over, and BINGO, F2 worked!
I just include this in case anyone else has the same issue. I have copied the instructions given here into my (permanent) clipboard database, however!

Thanks Mark! I think we can all use this info from time to time!
My pleasure. I certainly may need it when I experience a corruption or issues with my Win 10 installation. I do not anticipate that, but I do want to be prepared.

Good tip, Mark. These days with the superfast SSD's, the boot process is lightning fast. If you don't know for sure the correct key to get into the BIOS you may never see it go by.
This reminded me that I once had a user who did not like us doing any maintenance on his machine so he went in and password protected his BIOS. About 2 weeks went by and he came into the IT office complaining that he could not get into his machine's BIOS to do something. I went out and fixed it for him. Never had anymore issues with him. I never told him that I went in and changed his password to mine.
