Sorry no photo—but I would like to see one if anyone on UHH has photographed this bridge. I did see “views from the bridge”—but not a full view of the bridge.

Thanks,

Allen

I looked it up on google....

Seems that the only way to get a 'full view' is from a higher vantage as there are too many obstacles between any useful point of view and the bridge, even if on a boat.

I don't think that is entirely correct. I think you could get some nice shots with the Boston skyline in the background from Mary O'Malley State Park or Admirals Hill immediately to the North / North West of the bridge.

Interesting suggestion. I might wander over there some day and check it out. Zakim Bridge gets most of the attention these days.

Please post a picture if you do. I’m thinking of taking a trip out there. Since my city has 12 bridges that cross the Willamette River, I am interested in those in other locales. The Zakim Bridge is a beauty.

Your best bet to photograph the bridge is during the golden hour from Mary O'Mally Park, which is on the water. Take route one north from I-93. Take the first exit once you cross the Mystic River. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right and right again. When you get to the water/Chelsea Yacht Club, turn right and you're in the park. Enjoy!

I saw a good one of the Mackinac Bridge today. It's packed with snow. It would make a good sled run.

Thanks I’ll add this to my log notes for the trip. No time frame yet....

i have 2 quick stories about the Tobin Bridge.

many years ago a truck hit one of the supports at the East Boston end and the bridge was closed for months. Gave me an opportunity to sneak up onto it and walk across the length. great view of the city as well as Chelsea from there.

one year when the USA played Britain in a golf tournament in Boston. Ryder Cup is it?
Anyway, the Brits were arriving on the Concorde... I forget if they arrived at 10am or noon but I was on the bridge stuck in traffic, looked at the clock and realized they would arrive at any minute. When the plane arrived they had to close the airport to other air traffic for 10 minutes cause it had to land from directly offshore rather than the normal procedure because of the noise. Here I am sitting on the top of the bridge with a perfect view of the airport and here comes the Concorde... Delta wings, nose up... coming in for a landing and heading directly toward me. If I wasn't stuck in the car ( and if had a camera ) it would have been the perfect shot of the landing. I'm pointing like a maniac to my fellow commuters and I am convinced no one else even looked.
The Tobin is a pretty workmanlike bridge though... not much to look at really.

Another way is to take one of the sightseeing boats in Boston Harbor.

You can get an idea of vantage points from a sightseeing boat on wooweephotography.com....something to contemplate.
