When it comes to listening to the TV thats a different story. The people on TV news and weather try to talk as fast as possible and then my comprehension goes down fast.[/quote]

I have to sympathize with you on this point, but I'm afraid they will never slow down because they are trying to make more room for the ads that come on after every other news story.

Good suggestion and I agree with you.

I too suffer from loss of hearing but with the newer 'aids' that I bought at Costco, I can connect to my cell phone via bluetooth. I now can understand 90+% of most words on telephone calls.

If your TV has Bluetooth (Which mine does) you can feed the audio to your hearing aids as well. I even feed the GPS audio, in the car, to my hearing aids!

As for the Chinglish speakers, I just ask to speak to someone in the United States. By law, they have to transfer you. If they say they can't, I simply turn them in to the FTC.

Thank you very much!

I have great difficulty with speech on TV. I do wear bin aural hearing aids. I have closed caption activated. It greatly aids my comprehension.

My experience with requesting to speak with someone in the US varies. I have found more recently that they are very reluctant to transfer and some won't period. Guess they aren't making money if they don't complete the call. I think they should have to pay for my blood pressure medication and any medical problems after the phone call?

Maybe I'm alone on this but I remember when I first had to call overseas to talk to tech support or customer service I had trouble understanding the person I was talking to. However, for the last couple years it seems they are getting better at hiring reps that have a better grasp of the spoken English language.
I had to call the White House recently and the lady I talked to sounded like she was from Slovenia. What's up with that.

I understand, and I sympathize. Not only do they have a strong accent, but they talk fast. I can seldom understand all of what they are saying. That's why I prefer Chat.

Being almost deaf, I have to read back to them on what I get on my telephone screen, and that seems to make them give up.

I agree on BP control and I believe they also wouldn't understand it when you tell them to "Kiss your grits".

It might help you to get your frustration under control if you did.

Best of luck.

I have a better idea. These jobs need to be filled by USA citizens who speak English that can be understood by the average American. Maybe these greedy companies will finally come to their senses.

Good luck with that. Profit uber alles.
