Since no one has mentioned it, I will. Keep your eyes out for the Canon Pro-100 with rebates. Many of us have gotten that $400 printer for $100, including free paper. Rebates like that have been running for years, but they're not universal now. Adorama has it for $125 after the rebate.

I got my Pro-100 for that kind of price when the Pro-100 was a brand new model. The only complaint I have with it is that its ink capacity is not very good. To that end, the newer Epsons with their high capacity ink tanks that are refillable might be a better choice, especially if you print a lot.

Hi Bill, Have a P600 I was using to print photos for exhibiting at local gallery and craft shows. Turn 75 tomorrow and have decided to stick to just enjoying my photos myself. The printer has been lightly used and lately I have been printing just once a month to keep the jets in good shape. If interested drop me a note at wes97068@gmail.com with any questions. Also have 10 ink cartridges (epson) that will include.

I have the original carton and packing materials.

I am presently using an Epson P800 which I've had for 1.5 years with no issues. I purchased it, over the smaller P600 unit, mostly because of the ink cost savings of the larger cartridges and the ability to print to 16" x 24" for myself. I've had several Epsons prior to this one and have been satisfied. Whatever you get, I'd caution to make at least one 8 x 10 a week. Best of luck. Happy New Year.

I have my eye on the P800 as an upgrade from the R2000 I have been using over the last 5 years. A solid step-up from 13" and dye inks to 17" and pigment inks. Will most likely be my next equipment upgrade even before I replace my D800.

Thank you all for your input. I am leaning toward the p800 but will not purchase before the end of the year.
Also the advice to print at least one 8x10 per week is spot on - took forever to get the 2200 printing right recently.
Had to run the head cleaner 6-8 times to get it running smoothly - prints now look good.

Again - thank you all for your input and advice - now I gotta figure out monitor calibration software.

I just acquired the Datacolor Spyder 5 Elite kit with the ColorChecker, Lens calibrator and the Spyder Cube. A vast improvement over the Spyder 3 I had previously.
Datacolor was running a pretty good sale before Christmas. Might be worth a look. I am very happy with the calibration now. Pretty much spot-on.

I suggest your contact "Red River Paper" who sells photograph printing paper since printing is their business and they can give you a neutral opinion based on their experience. I did several years ago and it worked out fine for me and I am still using the printer they recommended.

I've owned and used a Canon Pixma iP8720 for over two years now and have printed about 400+ flawless prints 8.5" X 11"- 13" X 19" without problems. I was comparing it to the Epson Artisan when shopping and feel that I've made the best choice. I think it's the best consumer printer and a good value at just over $200.

I have had the P800 for over a year. It replaced the 3880 which was the prior model. The biggest improvement was the feed for larger papers.

I am very happy with the prints using their Exhibition Fiber and Ultra Premium Luster papers. I always use Epson ink. It is a big outlay for a full set, approaching $500. It lasts a long time for me, but I never really kept track of the # of prints. I just start saving my pennies when the ink is getting low.

Same here. Expensive inks but worth it. I’m told more economical then p 600 that uses a smaller cartridge
