Thanks for the suggestions...I have done a google search as you suggested and found some good information. I wish I had the technical skills to handle the photo editing needed. This is an example of an image that I have been working on that is laser engraved on cherry. (see attached)

Very good.....but the link I sent will tell you how to transfer a photo directly to wood.....no engraving involved......a different technique.

"needlessly complicated" is part of my problem. I am considering hiring someone with the skills to edit the photos the way I need them for laser engraving.

I've recently signed up for Photoshop CC. It's Select and Mask tool designed to upgrade and replace the Refine Edge command in CS 6 is to me needlessly complicated, harder to use, and does an inferior job for the effort than the old way in CS 6. I'm still looking for improvements in CC over CS 6.

Thanks for the links anyway. I realized what you were suggesting and dug further into my google search. I found a few tutorials that may be useful.

Tell me about it! I took a course in photoshop cc. Instructor made things needlessly complicated; plus it was capable of doing much more than I needed. Trying to learn lightroom. As a backup, using nikon vnx2 for post processing.. Will keep on trying to learn lightroom.

This topic was supposed to be about removing backgrounds. Why the silly fight? But, don't answer for me because I'm checking out of this one.

There must be something going on in the air with some kind of forces tonight, because there is already quite a few "silly fights" in the Main Photography Discussion and some of them are actually pretty amusing. I'm about to fill up my XL cup with Coke, get some popcorn, find a good spot in the first row and just enjoy the show!

It takes so much energy having to defend yourself sometimes when your motive in the first place was just trying to help. Sometimes if you don't dot your tees and cross your eyes perfectly you can expect to be slammed. Now bad or wrong information should be called out, but, because of the occasional personal attacks one has to ask themselves if it's worth responding to anything at all.
