Agreed, Republicans are hurting themselves unless the moderates regain control of the party. However, the Tea Party membership remains strong, just in the shadow of the Trump fiasco. If they re-emerge and act out then the party could fracture. Democrats have to start developing better talent as well. Pelosi retains tight control over her flock and she is as polarizing as is Ryan. It will be interesting to watch who the Dems back in the next presidential election. Right now Warren seems to be the front runner but there may be worthwhile, credentialed Dem governors that could throw their hat in the ring.

Bottom line, both parties are in trouble and will remain so until the ideologues of each party give way to bona fide consensus builders.

I am a very moderate Pub who has no use for Trump and his cast of idiots. I do not swallow, like some of the extremist on both sides, all of the party BS and whine on with the blindness and ignorance displayed by some here.
