Go to B&H or Adorama websites & look at their used cameras.

Listen to the advice you have been given and go to KEH on line. You will see any number of cameras you can choose from.

I haven't bought a camera in years, at least not since I bought my Nikon D3000, so yes, it has been quite a while. I have found that this camera fits my needs quite well, but this post isn't about me.

My daughter wants, as she put it, a "decent camera to take pictures with." Since I don't really have the money to get her a Nikon D3400, I'd like to know if there are any cameras out there, for a price of around $100, that would be worth considering. It's going to be a Christmas present for her, and I'm thinking about something in the Nikon Coolpix line. Suggestions?

For about $139.00 there are Sony and Canon point and shoots. I looked at the big blue store but you may find better deals on Amazon.
Both brands with the point and shoots are very good cameras. More features you add the more you pay.

To be brutally honest, she wouldn't need the sophistication of add-on filters, or interchangeable lenses. She just wants a point and shoot.

Try "PropertyRoom.com" in the Electronics section. The charge for shipping is steep however. The selection changes.

If the OP doesn't want a used camera and wants a Nikon Coolpix there is the Coolpix A10 for less than $90.

The coolpix is a great answer to your dilemma. NIKON is in itself a great xmas present.

The new Coolpix are 125 to 299 and are really just short or the great Nikon line.

I have a Nikon Coolpix W100. It's small enough for a pocket or purse and has glass over the lens opening (some don't). Was $160 at Wal-Mart but takes really good pictures.

Hard to imagine anything really worth while for $100.00 new. Even a P&S. Try about $300 up.

The best way to get a decent camera for a good price is to get a used camera from a reliable source such as BandH or Adorama. I know, for a fact, that they will stand behind the camera and often it will look and act like new. Camera hobbyists are constantly trading in the cameras and upgrading. I have bought several cameras for my grandchildren and have never been disappointed.
