Blood Moon

Here is a shot of the Moon I took at 3 AM.
Unfortunately, the brilliant color is due to the smoke from the horrendous fires here in So Calif.
Download to see the extent and color of the smoke.

Wow Craig!

Hope you are OK there. Good to hear from you!
Yeah, all that smoke is bound to turn when the winds do and come back on shore.

Nice catch with the Moon. Looks like my smoked Salmon.

Nice shot Craig.
I have a few shots like that from when Arizona and western New Mexico tried to burn down.
Be safe and glad to see you’re ok.

I'm safe here so far the fire is 75 miles away so far.

Looks like it’s trying to make it your way, I would hope they can get it out before it travels that far.

I just got evacuation orders for Montecito CA, the Beverly Hills of the Santa Barbara area. Fire is moving NW very quickly but winds aren't going to change until Thursday 14th. Wind will blow it back into its self.

Wildfires don't care.
They just go for the fuel of it.

16 MPH winds here now with 34 MPH gusts.

Yep. Straight over the back wall.

Our home sets with the corners on the compass.
These Santa Ana's hit from the rear of the house.
Looks like the winds are not going away soon.

Last night when the DIL and kids were leaving (~7), we could smell smoke for the first time, and the sky was covered with high altitude haze.
So maybe the wind is turning finally.

I did set out my Borg-A-Scope, and could see a few stars at times through the blockade. But no where enough to align or see much.
That lasted into the wee hours when I was peeing the dog and headed for bed in a power outage. (Just our neighborhood)
Sigh! Better nights ahead.....

Hope things are better up your way.

You won't have to shoot the lunar eclipse in January to get a blood moon!
