LED lighting uses a small amount of electricity to generate a lot of light. And that's the problem - light pollution.

I understand that...try and use a telescope close to town or city. I thank God I live out in the country area.

If you think thats a problem restricted to LEDS get ready to protest the MJ growers using greenhouses that destroy all night time darkness that used to be so wonderful here in southern Oregon. Dark skies are becoming a thing of the past here in Southern Oregon.
By that I mean everyone should be careful before they approve allowing MJ to be grown in their states, because what we allowed by permitting people to grow MJ in Oregon has now destroyed virtually all the wonderful nighttime environment for everyone.
Imagine what used to be a rural home where you could see the stars at night is now transformed into big, and I mean big, greenhouses all around you having grow lights on all night long.
What used to be a dark night has now turned a rural environment into an urban one. Now I understand why the people in urban cities are so crotchety.

Any state that has not approved the growing of Marijuana should realize that many growers do not care about their neighbors but will pollute the environment with light and noise to make money. Before any state votes to allow Marijuana to be grown they should get educated on problems of growers destroying the environment with excess fertilizers being put into the rivers and creeks, with greenhouses being lit 24 hours a day and huge, noisy fans being powered 24 hours a day in the greenhouses.
I'm sorry to hijack this thread but I don't think states that have not already approve MJ growing should be unaware of the problems caused by unregulated MJ growing.
If growing MJ was restricted to growing a crop like corn or grapes it wouldn't be bad but just like anything that looks good for making money the commercial interests have destroyed everything good about the idea in their haste to make money.
