Oh, I'm sure we can...

I think the OP should change to a [insert brand here] camera, which gives the shutter count much more easily. Of course, to save clutter, I would be happy to take the offending Canon off his hands...

Really...I've had no luck with programs to get an accurate shutter count on my Canon cameras. Send one in to Canon for a cleaning and they will free of charge give you an accurate shutter count. Just sent my old 5D in for a cleaning and found out to my surprise is had over 98,000 clicks on it. Damn thing is still buzzin along and came back with a clean bill of health. Your 5DIII is probably in need of a tune up cleaning anyway....

I have a program called Shuttercount on my PC. It will give the count for any camera which is currently connected with the usb cable. Can't remember where I got it, but I certainly didn't pay for it (or very little, at most). Pretty sure it was a freebie.

ShutterCount 3.0 is only available for macOS users at the moment, and can be downloaded on the app store for $3.

That's strange... Wonder why they stopped doing a windows version? I have the install file - I think it is a .msi file, and it isn't terribly big if anyone wanted me to forward it on... I just checked and I have version 1.2.1, downloaded in 4/16, and the file is about 4MB in size...
