Oh, I agree with you, Splat ... the D7000 is a helluva camera ...
And, apparently, Nikon must have realized they goofed - upping the Res from 16 to 24 in both the D7100, and the D7200 ...
Note - they dropped it down again - to 20mp ... in the subsequent D7500 - in the series ... (and dropped out the 2nd slot!)
Which means - they goofed, yet again ... no more simultaneous saves on diff cards, of both RAW images, and JPEGS ....
Oh, well ... the old tale ... two steps forward ... three steps back ....
Oh, I agree with you, Splat ... the D7000 is a hel... (

Yeah, newer isn't necessarily better. I still get great pics with my 12MP D300. But I do like the D7000 better.

I agree with you, Splat ... some - like Sony - have really made the 24mp sensor more than ideal for APS-C (crop-sensor) dig cams ...
Canon has done a fair job on it, too ... but, there is definitely something wrong with Nikon's version - certainly in its ProSumer models, anyway ... the D7000 series (D7100, D7200) I can't honestly see any visible improvement from my D7100 images over my D7000's.
And, I suspect - Nikon has seen that, too. The upgrade to your pro level APS-C - the 12mp D300, was the 20mp D500 !!!!
And, the top-of-the-line - Full Frame (FX) model - the D5 ... is ALSO at 20MP !!!!!!
So, perhaps, this is why they've decided to abandon the 24MP sensor, and go straight up to 36MP (D810) and now 46MP (D850) ....
Any Nikon Prosumer camera with a 24MP sensor - to me, anyway ... is a complete waste of money ...
I shoot twice as much in the summer. Winter is less colorful and people wear clothing that is more generic.

Lots more shooting in warm weather. Festivals and special events are scheduled around warm weather in NJ and PA. Good looking women wear short shorts in warm weather.
I'm with you. In winter, women cover up the goods. Makes my shutter finger limp.😈

Do you see photography, on that level, or no?
I live in Florida. I shoot all of the time. In the summer the highs are mid 80's to mid 90's and lows in the 70's. In the winter, the highs are in the high 60's to mid 80's and lows in the 50's to mid 60's.. we might really have a cold spell and it will drop to the mid 40's brrrrr. You should see all of the parkas and uggs when that happens.... lol. The ONLY time you can't shoot here is if you don't want to go out in the rain or during a hurricane.

Oh, good, d2b2 ... so you DO have the same shot in color ... that's wonderful ... er - could we see?
Trying to set a Hitchcockian flavor, with the B/W - were you?
As you wish! Do you have something against Hitchcock?
I live in Nothern California and so so surf here, But they tell 2 days ago with the big winds there were 6' swells on lake Tahoe but with an average water temp of 55 there were no surfer to be seen LOL.

Here in Hawaii it is always summer-like, so mostly summer. :)
My surfer friends on the North Shore say there are only two seasons in Hawaii, surf and no surf. :) The winter brings big waves to north facing shores, so I do take a lot of big wave surfing pictures in the "winter", but they aren't what most people would think of as winter pictures.

Oh, I see ... down in the Gulf, then, huh?
Only 20, huh?
Are you sure?
Oh ... you mean - on the island, itself, huh, Jeff?
Sounds nice ... how do you get there? ... Is there a bridge, or do you have to use a ferry?
cross bridge from corpus Christi TX. They have a nice dining directory and you can eat at different places every day. Not to mention Arkansas, to the north. The National seashore is something like 60 miles long, 4wheel recommended as you go more than 15 miles south. They offer a birding tour but most of what you see are dozens of gulls. Two bird sanctuaries are nearby that had a lot to offer.

Right dead center in the Tampa / St. Pete sandwich, huh, D?
Well, you don't need to worry about Tropical extremes, then ...
A good place to be, in Florida ....
Yup ... I'll bet you really feel the ravages of the hurricanes, on the coast, there ... when they come right up the Gulf, huh?

WJ ... are you saying the colder temps actually help you to move more?

yes, the colder air is much kinder on my aged body than hot weather. i have no trouble dressing for very cold temps. also, less people around with cameras in my photographic area, so that is a great help, also.

Jeff ... it's been on my bucket list for years ... a visit down to San Antonio, to see the Alamo, and then on to Corpus Christie ...
Now, you've given me even something more to look forward to ... thank you!!!
Any chance seeing some pics of the hustle-bustle on N. Padre Island, itself?
