This is an image taken a bit late at night. The hub is just going below the broken lava bed horizon at Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho.
I've been working on a bit of a project I thought would be fun to do. It's a short little "movie" just a bit over 2 minutes containing the time lapse sequences of the Milky Way I've done in the last few years.
If you're interested, you can see it here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/130568803@N05/37590836972/in/album-72157686057868072/The first clip was my first attempt at time-lapse done from a place called Sunrise in Mt. Rainier National Park. It's a bit rough at only 9fps and it's the shortest of the group but if you look closely to the lower left of the mountain between the two groups of trees, you'll pick up a short light trail at about the 16sec point. You'll see it grow from left to right. The sequence was shot around 1am. This was a summit expedition getting underway very early to hopefully summit by mid-morning. I didn't even see it until I processed the images. The second clip was done at Craters of the Moon. It runs a little long but I wanted to keep the last part in even though the hub has set below the rocks because about half way through this segment, you'll see a couple of blips emerging from the center of the picture moving towards the upper left. First one then another coming in behind it looking like it's trying to catch up. The sequence is composed of 15 second exposures running at 16fps. These blips are in the picture for a long time (in real time). Too slow for satellites. I'm thinking piston engined aircraft...or aliens :)
Throughout this video you'll also see skies full of activity. If you watch, hope you enjoy the show.

Thanks Sonny. Feel free to share as you so desire. Glad you liked it ... and the music. That was probably the hardest part. Finding royalty free music I could obtain a license for without costing an arm and a leg wasn't too hard but finding such music that I liked for this project proved to be quite a search. Having done this, now I have ideas for more down the road

Every journey begins with a single step....
http://freemusicarchive.org/http://download.cnet.com/YouTube-Music-Downloader/3000-2071_4-75409715.htmlI particularly like the FreeMusic Archive. These are Artists trying to get their compositions out there. They ask you give them a blurb at the end, and a link.
For that small favor, you are Welcome to use their music. I try to give them 10 seconds, name and a link.
I was raised a little differently though, I like to contact them to ask permission as well. Then I like to send them a link to what I've used their composition in.
Choreographing is often fun. I use Windows Movie Maker and insert my files. The play with the time for the image if need be to balance it in.
To me, it's all fun.
Love your Milky Way video! Well done!
Beautifully done! Thank you so much for posting!

Wowsers! That vid reminds me that no matter how still I am, I'm spinnig in a circle 1,000 MPH while hurtling through space at 57,000 MPH. Kinda clears it all up now. Alone, but never alone.
