Thinking of buying 150-600 lens. Is there a big difference in Tameron and Cannon performance?

I do not shoot with Cannon, but I have owned the Tamron 150-600 lens. It was a nice lens for about a year, then started hunting for focus lock. I ended up selling it and buying the Nikon 200-500 and have had no problems. I find manufacturer made lenses are much better in the long run. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and think it is terrific. Pictures are very sharp but I do use a tripod. You might want to consider this one too. The best way to decide is to get all the lenses and test them side-by-side. I know it can be a lot of work and expense but that way, you know what is the best buy for yourself and not going by others' opinions and needs. Good luck.

I think you had a typo. I'm sure you meant the 150-600 Sigma Contemporary, and yes you are spot on, it is a superb lens.

That is why it is so good: short zoom range. But to make you happy, I changed it to 150. Thanks for calling me on it.

Only when someone comes to a photography dedicated site and can not even properly spell common names of well know manufacturers.

No, you are assuming. Look again, I'll bet he was referring to the Tamron 150-600mm lens. As far as I know, Canon doesn't yet make a 150-600mm lens. You are right though, the Sigma 150-600mm lens is a good one.

So, new to the site is a good excuse to not know how to write Canon and Tamron properly.... Really? Who is the dumbass again?
