And watch out for camera gear thieves -- and pickpockets, etc. They often work in teams. The first person partially unzips your camera bag/backpack/purse and signals ahead to his/her teammates. The next person does one quick zip 'n reach, and some of your stuff is gone. Victim rarely feels it happening, but the third person is there in case the victim notices. That person's job is to block you from chasing. A travel agency once put us up in a cheap (sleazy) hotel near Rome's train station where, as we were leaving, we watched thieves rehearsing in the hallway before heading off to work. . Also, don't put your bag or purse on the floor under a restaurant table. People train their kids to crawl around and remove items or even to take the whole thing. They sit at a table near you, and after the kid makes the heist one parent leaves off with the kid and your stuff while the other parent blocks. When we went to report the loss at the American Express office in Florence we had to pick a number and wait a long time even though there were three windows just for Amex card theft reporting. Then we had to do the same at a bank for the Visa card.

Sony G 24-70 F2.8. You need a moderate zoom lens for such trips. You might consider a zoom lens of 24 to 105mm.
You could rent it for the trip.

Take the one lens that will give you the broadest focal length range. Last summer my husband and I completed a nine national park tour. I brought my Nikon D7000 and my 70-200, a rented wide angle zoom, my nifty 50, and 16-85. Pain in the neck, back, etc. The weight was a real deterrent. I wound up using the 16-85 most of the time. The others were just dead weight. I was ok with having to use a higher ISO. The bigger, heavier lenses were dead weight. If you do go with your favorite, get a BosStrap camera strap, it will really save your neck and increase your enjoyment.

P.S. When I got back home I traded in all my beloved gear for am Olympus OMD Mark 5 II and a 14-150mmII lens. I couldn't be happier. I have added other lenses since but my gear bag still weighs only a fraction of what it did. Have a great trip.

Based on my travel experiences, I would take the 24-70 and leave the rest at home. Yu will shoot more with less and have more fun.

I have been to Italy and it is a great trip.
My choice would be a good prime lens such as the 50mm or 85 mm 1.4.plus another such as the 24/70 or 105.

The lens I used was the Canon 28/135 and it worked great. I also carried a Canon G 11. Great also.

Wider is better for sightseeing and travel IMO. Would stick with the 24-70. Maybe throw the 35/1.8 in the bag for low light.

I would take the 24-240, the second the 16-35. Nice thing about the Sonys is that they are comparatively noiseless up to ISO 6400 and still very good even beyond that. It's why I eventually sold my f1.8 prime. Shooting inside museums and churches was pretty easy. It is amazing how well the Affinity Photo's in-painting brush can eliminate all the tourists and tourist signs.

I just returned from a Viking Cruise (from Amsterdam to Basel) and 8 days in the Swiss Alps with Cosmos tours...70% of the time, I used my 24-240mm...it was excellent. My f4 16-35mm was my second lens of choice - for the remaining 30%. Pics were awesome. At night, I used my tripod and took many great evening photos. Also, wherever possible, I would use supports (such as a nearby wall or handrail) to help with achieving sharp pics especially with the 24-240m zoom lens.
