Converting a composite image in Word to Picassa or Lightroom

I have made a composite image of two pictures. The only way i knew how to do this was to move my images from Picassa to Word and make the composite in Word. My plan was to then send this composite back to Picassa.
I was able to send this composite image to Pictures, but when I tried to import it with Picassa or Lightroom, the file was not to be found. Microsoft was absolutely no help, nor was Picassa. Any help appreciated. Ron

What are you trying to accomplish?? When I hear "composite", I picture one image created by pasting what were two or more different images into the same image; what you have is just two images both pasted into the same word document.

I read the OP as two composites had been created in Word and they could not be saved from word to a photo format so I resaved them as jpgs. Should be easy enough to load into whatever software OP has.

You do realize you're not likely to hear much more here unless we hear more from you, don't you?

I wanted to make this composite, since I am using a photo service to print my pictures. I intend to have them print these pictures separately, but I wanted to show them what I had in mind for the final result. I am not certain what it is you want me to add to my original question. My problem is not making a composite picture, as you can see; it is transferring this picture from Word to either Picassa or to Lightroom. Even though I can send the Word docurment to a picture file, if I attempt to import this file to, say, Picassa, when I open the Picture files, the Word document does not appear. I even tried putting the document onto a flash drive with no success. It was copied on the drive, but it would not transfer to Picassa. The problem, I think, is the fact that I am trying to transfer both pictures at the same time. I can make a jpg transfer of the individual pictures, but if I wish to transfer them together, so as to graphically present to the photo service what I have in mind for the final product, I am unable to achieve this result, because the document is still in Word.

No wonder you guys are puzzled about what I am trying to do. I just looked at the pics I uploaded to you and, gosh all gee, they are no longer a composite. My idea was to have the two pictures on the same page, the real pictograph over the shadow "pictograph." What you see is not what I want to send to my photo service.

To be perfectly honest, I do not understand what you want. The Word document contains two separate pages, each page containing a picture; to me that says you want them to print two pictures, which is exactly the same message I would get if you sent two JPEG files to me, each of them containing one of the pictures. What is putting two pictures into one Word document supposed to communicate to me?

Note: to me, the word "composite" communicates a single image containing more than one picture. Below is one I created several years ago - not great because the three pictures all came from scans of print, but it does show what a "composite" is, at least in my mind.

oops. I guess I did send you a composite. When whoever jpgd it, he or she turned the composite into two separate photos. So we are back to square one.

ok, I won't use the word "composite." I am simply trying to indicate to the photo service how I want the pictures to be arranged when they are finally matted. I was simply trying to help them understand how I wanted them to size the photos. I was also trying to find out if they could print the pics so that one print would contain both photos in the desired arrangement.

It looks like it was saved as a Word document, at least the download you provided. You can do a PrintScreen and save it as a graphic.

You can create your collage right in Picasa. At top of page where you see file, edit, view, etc - click on CREATE. The drop down menu includes "picture collage."

It's not particularly intuitive to use, so you might struggle a bit initially.

A Word document is not viewable in Picasa. Also at top of Picasa home page is TOOLS. In the drop down menu, see the "file types" tab for the supported.

That is your basic problem. Word isn't very friendly in allowing manipulation of image files. It likes to deal with text files and images inserted as an image to fit in the text.
Linda has explained the basic error. Picasa can't display Word files. Good luck, you are have entered the morass of Microsoft and trying to get it to work with non-Microsoft programs. Good luck again, I have spent many hours learning that Microsoft is Microsoft and the rest of the world is not Microsoft and they definitely do not play well together. When I think of Microsoft, the comment on my 2nd grade report card: "Does not play well with others" comes to mind!
Your have probably figured out by now that I use and have always used Macintosh computers!
