Playing Around with Saturn

I was experimenting with an old Meade ETX125, this was taken near full moon, 43 seconds and stacked in AutoStakkert2. I'm going to have to give this a try again, wish I had a decent 1 1/4 Barlow, I have a cheaply one I'll try out.

Added a little more color to the second image.

Very Nice Brian!
Do try the Barlow you have!
Is this with your QHY camera?

I have two, (and of course cheapie ones), although they degrade the image (dims it) when I stacked them one summer night, everybody got an eye full of Saturn.
Caused quite a commotion here. That was back before I'd figured out PHD2 even.

So never fear experimenting. And there is always the delete button for hiding the evidence...

Thanks Sonny, this was with QHY5-III224C. I got it as both a guider and planetary. I have to get out and play with settings, I kinda just hooked it up and started filming. I may try again tonight.

Well do, if you have the incline. The Moon is showing up later and later, and dimmer and dimmer, too.

This turned out quite nice for a quickie.

Going to have to get "an old Meade ETX125" if it captures this image quality! Nice result!

Europa , that's an awesome Saturn and that qhy5-lll holds its own accompanied with the Meade Etx125pe. My dewpoint is in the mid 80's and the Planet is boiling oppresively.

Haha, I tried again last night, no luck. Planetary is a different animal.

I tried an off-hand on Saturn a few nights ago.
I was able to get a nice big.... blob.

But admittedly, I wasn't trying my hardest, either.

What application did you use to record it? Doesn't your infinity do video?

The Infinity software doesn't capture video but the camera is supported by SharpCap which does do video using the Infinity camera(s). And both the color and mono cameras work quite well in that mode.

Sounds like Sonny has a new challenge. sharpCap is what I've been playing with. I guess the 60% cloud cover didn't help tonight, so another bust on Saturn.

I tried out Sharpcap a while back. I'm pretty sure it did not play well with my computer. Just checked, and yes, I had to remove it.
I like seeing the Planetary imaging, but I'm just not thrilled enough to dabble in it myself earnesty.

When the cloud cover started closing out here, I was packing it in anyway. It was just coming into my FOV around 01:00 Hrs. Closing in like a ring.
This morning it is pretty solid out here.
Just in time to screw up the Eclipse..... Typical L.A. weather.
I remember the weather screwing up almost every Astronomical event in my youth.
The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius... clouds. Total Eclipse of the Moon... clouds.
The only reason I watch the weather on TV is to undress the weather girls with my eyes.
Truely, L.A. weather is as fickle as it gets, and usually inaccurate.

Very nice images Brian. Do you use that Camera as a guide camera and imaging at the same time???

Thanks Craig, no just imaging. I believe with video, your guiding doesn't have to be perfect.
