Land of the midnight sun (almost).

The Moon has parted and now the long, long days of summer are upon me.

Last night at midnight was almost like daytime!! Bright enough to light up the mountains and the pasture.

And the clouds didn't help!!

P.S.: Maybe a good time to consider splitting double/triple/quad stars or shooting star clusters...

Beautiful shot Brian!

I had forgotten about the Northern Latitude.
Maybe you would be more well served by doing Solar Imaging, what with those long dayz...

Ya, the sun is showing some activity! Good thought if the clouds go elsewhere...

Yes, a good time for those objects. Super dark skies aren't as necessary.

Sometimes I just use clouds, so I get something for the effort...

Maybe consider a time-lapse of meadow flowers, the sun, and clouds ore the a day?

In July we are traveling to Washington for the G Grandson's 1st Birthday. I'm taking my wired Intervalometer to the SIL in Port Orchard. Going to help him get going with it and his old D90.

Short nights with always a touch of twilight. At this time of the year the sun never gets more than 15º below the horizon.

Weather is also a definite factor! It dropped to -3ºC (27ºF) over night and froze our garden and all my wife's newly planted flowers; annoying but not that unusual for life in the Foothills of the Rockies. I was going to do some imaging but with the temperature and wind it didn't happen!! It is now 5ºC (41ºF) with wind and rain.

Oh well, always another night for imaging...

Burr!
Maybe you could email some of the chill to me and Pilot Jim?

Tell the Mrs. sorry to hear of the Garden and Flowers. That's a lot of work to lose overnight.

Please send me some "chill" too! It has been brutal lately. Trying not to use the A/C by day and to use fans at night to cool down the house so that the next day is bearable.

Nights are very comfortable now. No mosquitoes, but relentless squadrons of June bugs that seem to get into everything. Don't think I want to take out the Newton scope with all of them at their yearly peak. Their landing techniques leave a lot to be desired, and always seem to get themselves upside down with all legs and wings going like crazy. And my hair seems like a natural landing field to them!

I would invite you Spartanburg but we have had nothing but heavy clouds and afternoon and evening thunderstorms for the past month plus.....with more predicted. I guess every place on the planet has it's pluses and minuses. I have been googling "Star Parties" and found one in at a dark site in Penn. - I am seriously thinking about heading up there in August if the dates work with my work.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3uVUZloXrw&t=2056s I watched this entire thing last night!

Bah, I hate June Bug season. The turkeys bite as well as being nuisances.
My worst bug right now seems to be mosquitoes.

I bought a fogger a couple of years ago....and fog once a week during the spring and summer - we went from having mosquitos "a plenty" to zip. A very cheap fix. Now, with that being said, we will probably all get cancer from the Black Flag Chemicals!

Maybe Ed, but without, you could get Zika, or a host of other Mosquito born nasty's. Probably crap we haven't been told about yet.
Just try to protect yourself and others when fogging.
