"Venerable" Cameras

When reading reviews about newly released camera models, I occasionally see the word "venerable" being used to describe its predecessor. One example would be the Nikon D300s (which as we know was replaced by the D500), in which the reviewer used the word "venerable" in his mention of the D300s. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes venerable as ":old and respected :valued and respected because of old age, long use, etc." Would you also agree about the D300s as being deemed venerable? Or, from your experience, what other camera models come to mind that you feel could possibly fall in this exclusive category?

My old Canon A-1 35mm film camera, or my first camera, the Brownie. Now that's venerable.

Yes, the AE-1. I have one. I also have a Brownie. And I just bought an RB67. I think they'd be on the list.

When I think "venerable camera", the first thing that comes to mind is the Busch Pressman camera, the workhorse of many professional photojournalists in the 1950's.

When I first saw this thread, my first thoughts were of the Pentax Super Program which I used 1984-95 but I had to honestly admit that if any Pentax camera were mentioned, it would be the Spotmatic or K1000.

If one thinks primarily about impact, two Kodak products should be mentioned - Brownie and Instamatic 100.
