I bought some Eneloop batteries several years ago (at least four years) they come already charged and they have been used frequently.
They still hold the charge as if they are brand new and I use a cheap charger, go ahead and buy some as soon as you can.

My Duracell AA rechargeable batteries are just not holding their charge anymore. I have read that Eneloop batteries are preferred. Is the black 'Pro' version worth the extra cost? Who has the best price online?

I've been using Eneloops for years, and now I get the Amazon version - cheaper, with the same rating. Mine happen to be black.

I don't know about the black ones. I have three sets of the white/blue ones. Bought them at Costco.

Got mine from B&H, got the Panasonic charger and battery holders to. They hold charges for ever and recycle time is Super.

Costco has the best price on them! I have several sets I bought 10 years ago and they still hold their charge fine.

As a field macro-photographer, I am more interested in quick recharge time of my speedlight, than number of flashes per charge. I will probably buy eight (8) batteries so I will carry a fully charged second set.

When I need rapid recycling, I reach for my Quantum Battery Pack. I have an old one (1984) that they keep rebuilding for me. It's heavy (sealed lead-acid gel cells), but clips to my belt, powers two flashes, and recycles them in 2-3 seconds (full manual).

I too use both types of Eneloop, but keep the black ones for use in my flash. One difference that nobody else has mentioned, is that the white ones have a much slower discharge time when not in use. They say that after a year on the shelf, they will still have something like 90% of charge. The black ones will discharge themselves faster, more akin to 'normal' batteries.

I've been using Eneloops since they were made by Sanyo (before Panasonic bought them out) with few issues. I use the standard cells. I have always gotten them off of Amazon. I don't use the charger they came with. I use a Nitecorp D4 or a Maha Powerex to recharge them (which one depends on whichever I pick up first .Both are "smart" chargers that can recondition the batteries if need be). I have found the the thyristor circuitry in the camera allows for fast recharging at macro distances so I find the best price when I buy mine.

I bought Panasonic Pro through Amazon as best price. Would not use anything else.

I use the black ones for my sb700. As far as the blue colored ones, I use them in my apple trackpad and keyboard. Bought them all on Amazon. The pros are amazingly quick to recycle.

Look like all of mine are 1900 Mah minimum and most are the older Sanyo branded.
