Hi, has anyone used both

JixiPix Impresso Pro

and

Topaz Impression II

And if so, how would you compare the two products? Would you see any point in someone having both on their computer?
Thank you.

I have both. Impresso Pro has just added an update which modifies the brush stroke; I have just installed it to night and have yet tried it. For $29 intro not much $ invested. Topaz Impression is $100.

There is another art program you did not mention of which is my go-to program, Dynamic Autopainter, DAP. They have just updated to DAP 5 and have a intro with this change at $70 [norm $100]. I consider Impresso Pro and Impression II as instant coffee, OK but not gourmet. In contrast DAP does a wide range of artists copy the brush and stroke styles, slow brewed with true flavors.

Beyond the simple controls that I use [beep.. laziness] the program has layers, retouch and many pages beyond. There is a video which goes over great and wide range of this program.

There is a trial download... give that a try.

Oh,Oh, looks like the $70 intro is gone and $100 is the price, but bet if you contacted them they would reopen the intro door.

OK, thanks for the information. I've had the Topaz Impression II, paid $99 plus for it back in October. I just noticed the discounted price of $29 for Impresso Pro from it's usual $49. Yes, with some improvements. But I know what you mean about Impression II being a bit basic. Perhaps I'll wait for the next sale on DAP 5. No rush on any of it. I'll take a look at the video as well. Thanks again.

Update: I took a look at the videos. Yes, seems like a great program. Perhaps the one I should have gotten. Well, next sale perhaps or if I really get the painting from photo itch.

One of my better painterly attempts

Are these real painting programs or auto painting, just make a few selections and let it go, currently I'm using Corel Painter Essentials 4, not really happy with the output but like the ease of just select and go, Bob.

I have just begun using Topaz. Here are some examples of my playing with it: first is the original, the others are different looks.

Yes, I've had Impression II since October. I like your fourth image a lot. How did you get the bold, wide, heavy brush strokes and yet keep detail?

I used one of the presets in Impression 2; I don't recall which one. I just scroll through the choices till I see what I like. Matt

OK, thanks. I'll have to play around with it.
