Question for Sony a6000 owners

I purchased the FotodioX Canon EF Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Pro Fusion Smart AF Adapter to use my Canon lenses with the a6000. The B&H description states it will couple auto focus with my lenses. I have to do more testing to be sure but it looks like it will not lock in with auto focus with any of my Canon lenses. I don't object to manually focusing the lenses. My question is Does anyone know if there is some setting that will produce an indication in the viewfinder like the green dot in the old film cameras when focus is manually achieved.

Not sure about a green dot, but there is "focus peaking" if you enable it ......

Or youcould use a SONY lens on your SONY camera as originally intended by SONY

IF, they made a decent one you could afford ....in the focal range and aperture you wanted.

One thing I like about Sony is that they do seem to appreciate the need to accommodate their customers - even those who may want to use a competitor's lens. I think that is an admirable attitude.

I'd talk to B&H if that adapter is not working as expected.

If I understand the second part of your question correctly theen "imagemeisters'" recomendation to use "focus peaking" is correct. It's on the "geared" Menu 2 as Manual Assist and you choose what color.

I looked that adapter up. The reviews are not that good with others have similar complaints. Surprisingly the Metabnes adapters ratings are nto a lot higher and as far as I know that is a well thought of adapter. Check with B&H and see what they recommend.

I have a Metabones adapter to adapt Canon lenses to my A7r II and a6000 and auto focus is not acceptable if you need fast focus. Doesn't matter which lens, even with a f2.8 L lens. It searches like crazy to find focus but does get there. Manual focus is fine. Basically I wasted $500. If you shoot kids, sports or wildlife forget it.

For what it's worth. Whether you purchase an expensive Metabones or one of the many adapters at 25% of the cost, I find all lens to be a bit of a crap shoot when it comes to auto focusing.

I have that adapter with the old Canon model of the 24-70 L. It hunts a lot on the a 6000 but I do get focus lock. The problem may be that you have not set the a 6000 to except other lenses. Release without lenses is a choice under the second menu on the third page. See that that is enabled.

Toment - my setting has been on disable since day one and use of an adapter with any lenses (mostly Canon) hasn't made any difference. Is your suggestion based on the possibility that the camera doesn't recognize that a lens is attached?

Metabones 4 is probably the best Canon/Sony adapter now. The A6000 does not work well with Canon lenses. They do work well with this adapter on the A6300, A6500, and A7r2.
As to Sony lenses there are quite a few, and worth checking out.

Pictures of dogs may be right, but I can focus the 24-70 (with a little hunting) fairly easily.
Try "release w/o lens-enable"! See if it works.

YES. That's why I bought a Tamron for it, the 18-200.
