Bode's Nebula (M81 and M82)

This was a stack of 16x200 Second exposures from last night. This could use a lot more exposure time, but it was capturing some other smaller galaxies as well.

Looks great, Brian.

And I don't see any detriment from the Neighbors lights.

Yes, the neighbor is to the south, so I went north. I also tried M78 in Orion, I'm hoping it'll be decent.

Brian, very nicely done.
I have not been able to capture this area at all.
Glad to see someone is able to image again. This cloud fest is getting out of hand!
Heck I have been struggling to shoot solar much less deep sky.

Galaxies. Besides the main two, I found nine for sure and a few maybes.

I have an oil well right over the hill next to my property, when they finished fracking it there was a flare, 40' tall burning constantly. I used a "Blackout" curtain, for a long window, and hung it 20' away from my scope to block out the light it worked really well, as long as there was no haze in the air.

Great image,
Matthew

Thanks, so what you are saying is I should drape a black out curtain over my neighbors house...just kidding but that would work even better. My neighbors lights light up my entire back wall of my house (2 story) all the surrounding trees, even inside my observatory ( bright enough inside I could read a magazine). I still like Sonnys solution to borrow his 22 and shoot the neighbors

My neighbor has ringed his whole yard with a 25w light string. About 80 of them. Looks like a fricken shopping center over there.

Sounds like you should have a party and have target practice.

Sounds like my neighbor. Has decided that he needs to shine a spotlight in a tree, pointing straight up, lighting up every leave on the tree. But some nights he does forget to turn it on.

If his lights are set up on a photocell, you can point a red or IR laser at the photocell, and his lights will think it's daylight and shut off. This works for street lights also. I would rig up a 3vDC power supply/wallwart in a fake battery to spare battery usage. Personally an IR laser would be best as it would not be visible to the naked eye.

Or if you tend to only image a night or two a week you could go over and ask nicely if it would be possible to shut them off during your imaging times.

The condo complex across the mote (Drainage channel. Selling feature to me) in our backyard had an incident where some kid got his ass kicked by some other kids one night. Their "solution" was to mount 2 - 500 watt Metal Halide (Bright, white light) fixtures near the top of the two story roof, aimed at our houses. Glaring white light on our homes and in our homes.
Betty called the city, and they made them aim their ridiculous lights down, instead of at our homes.
Shortly later, the woman and her two troubled teens moved away. Now those night flares sit unused. Nobody wants to pay the power bill.
But try city hall, Brian. Obnoxious lighting into your property and home can be dealt with.
