Is there a "test" forum...
where I can try out loading an image or two without embarrassing myself with the process? Note that I'm not all that concerned about image comments at this point regarding the image(s) but rather, I typically tend to stay in the background most of the time and just peep at other's writings and admire the images. While I have oodles of images, I rarely post them simply because I'm not a fast learner and it usually takes me a few tries before I can get it right.
Advise please?
Thanks,
Steve W
I'm not sure what you're asking Steve but you're in good company here. Give it a shot and see what happens. What's the worst thing that can happen, it won't work?
Only trolls give people grief for trying and we generally try to ignore them anyway.

From "Home," scroll down and click on "All Sections." I suggest you post in the "Gallery," not here in "Main Photography Discussion" (Admin often moves pictures that are posted here).
How to post a picture:

If you do post in Photo Gallery and want some feedback, you need to indicate that you want critique.
Although critique seemingly hurts your feelings at times, I think it's the only way to get better so I usually invite any and all comments.
Thanks

Good attitude! The first link in each section explains its purpose, so you'll know what to expect. Good luck!
We all had a learning curve with the forum.
(Some of us are still slightly on the curve

Steve, the Gallery is a great place to start if you want to post pictures and see how your images compare to others in the same subject area (Landscape, Nature, Portraits, Cityscape, etc.). If you do not specifically ask for critique in the Gallery, most of the responses are pretty generic; if you do ask for critique you will often get some more detailed responses in addition to the generic ones.
Another place to post you might consider is the 'For Your Consideration' section. You can expect members who view your images in that section to point out what they like about an image and what they individually might change or improve on. A good place to get suggestions on cropping, content, post processing options and even how different camera settings may have helped improve the image.
Keep in mind that any time you ask a group of people to give their individual opinions on a topic or object, you are going to get some responses that may seem overly harsh to you. In most cases, the author of the response is not necessarily trying to be mean or rude, but is expressing his/her self as best they know how on a written forum such as this.
