So, I am trying to use the A57.

A am trying to use high speed 10 FPS with AF - you know - like with Canon -

I looked at Busches book on the A5000 at B&N ( only Sony book they had) where I perceived to read that the high speed drive mode only will auto focus for the FIRST frame and then keeps that focus through out the burst ???? If you want CONTINUOUS AF, you have to use the slower 4 FPS ? I had to dig hard and deep to find this ! - this is IMPORTANT - and if true - should be mentioned first thing in the instructions/reviews !!

So, now I am also wondering if this is also true for the A77 and II ??

Just did a quick try with A-77, and it did only focus each shot @ 4 fps.

David Busch's book on the Sony A57 has a kindle edition.

My Sony A7711 tracks faster tracks then my Nikon d7200.

My a77m2 has focus tracking that allows to follow BIF and other moving subjects. I have not used this feature, but th continous AF is good on the a77m2.

Another thought, when shooting in burst (which is on Sony will continue to shoot as long as the shutter is pressed) you usually do not move the camera, so the orginal focus point will be good for the burst.

The other thought is to use 4k video to record the movement and get stills from that video. Video is the equivalent of 30 frames a second. This is becoming the method of BIF and sports photogs.

"you bring to the act of photography, all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, and the people you have loved". Ansel Adams

And apparently all the nasty ignorant and miserable treatment of people writing on this form that you can spew.

Good sir, this was one of the problems with the first generation of SLT cameras; the AF module was not capable of following the action after the first few frames in high speed burst mode.

This was cured in the A58 and subsequent SLT models.

Both the A77 and A77II offer continuous AF in high speed burst mode... and the A77II Expandable spot lock-on AF will follow the subject across the screen... at 12 fps.

Just the Smart Teleconverter function.

BTW, I'm on my way to Atlanta now, but later tonight or tomorrow I'll show you examples of 12 fps with full autofocus.

I caught some Pelicans feeding yesterday off Cape San Blas with my A77II and the 70-300mm GI and have several series of images showing the birds from stoop to splash in pretty clear focus. Impressive too, considering the relatively poor light because of rain.

Once you get used to it, you can capture pretty fast action with the A77II in 12 fps burst mode with that Expand Spot Lock-on AF.

Sony has upgraded some of their G lenses.

They've added the nano coatings to further reduce flare, but the BIGGEST improvements are to the SSM drive.

The new lenses are much faster than the originals... which were extremely fast to begin with.

Well, the improvement to the lenses was to keep up with the new AF module they put in the A77II.

I've noticed that the A77II's AF module CAN be faster than the lenses ability to respond. Not with the G II lenses though.

It's worth the upgrade to a G II (and the new versions of the CZ lenses when they are released) if you have the A77II.
