I don't mean to be rude and I know you contribute greatly to the site and the experience of those who use the site, but how can you expect to control a post in either chit chat or the attic, seems nonsensical to me...

A conversation goes where it goes, there is much more to know about the SCOTUS such as it was never given direct charter in our constitution to rule on the constitutionality of a law, that first occurred in the case of Marberry vs Madison where John Marshall assumed that power for the court. Nowhere did our constitution grant such power.

Steve - I meant no dis-respect toward anyone. Nor did my personal politics play into my statement.
Perhaps a bit of clarity can be achieved by explaining my intent?

I admire the history of what the Supreme Court has meant to this country in the past, but as of late - it is impossible to understand the extreme vacillation in their decisions.

No politics...just trying to understand the value of one of our 3 branches of govt.

I do not need to comment further, nor do I seek to stir the pot.

My apologies as the comment was not aimed at you, but the inevitable tide to come. Better to ask to control it now than try to fix a flood later.

Honestly, I take no offence and understand. Sometimes you cheer and sometimes shake your head. I think it's what happens in a free society.

With all the best! S-

There's hate and beauty in each of us, it's ours to decide which wins.

The link was interesting, but this comment was uncalled for.

Number 8:

Your timing of your post is no doubt inspired by recent events, OR is it a weird coincidence?

Politics indeed has no place in the supreme court, they are SUPPOSED to me myopic and only rule on the law as set before them, especially as it pertains to the original intent of the founding fathers. Why "justice" metaphorically wears a blindfold while holding the scale, she is supposed to have no personal role in her decision. Why your post sadly refers to supreme courts of the past and it's original role. Meanwhile politics are now very much a topic as they pertain to the courts, we have a new branch of government that has appeared as some have admittedly removed this blindfold by their very comments of record.

This new fact is simply number 8 of the things "You might not know about the U.S. Supreme court".. i.e.: she no longer sports a blindfold.
