We go to a tour and take some nice photos,
the tour guide ask me if he can put my photos on his website.
I am fine with it, just want to know what is the polite and friendly way to ask for credit on it so that people will know who took the photos, and they can contact me in case someone like it.
any suggestion welcome.
thanks.

Ask for credit showing your contact information. Ask in a polite and friendly way.

It is a completely reasonable request, there shouldn't be any problem politely making that a condition of supplying your photos.

Don't 'Ask', tell him/her, that's the way it's gonna be, if they want to use the images.

They should at least offer you a by-line when asking you. If you have a web site, ask them to post that also, possibly with the link as your name.

If someone is using your photos, even if they are not paying you, you need to provide them a "Limited Use" release. It does not have to be a fancy contract, just send an email, and ask him to respond. Even better put in the email that his response means agreement with the release. But here is the rub, you need to be specific as to what you are granting.

Photographer grants unlimited use of photos to Joan Doe for use on his website http://www.mywebsite.com for a period of one year, providing that the photographer's website and name are in the caption of the photos. Photographer retains all copyrights. Any rights such as print rights not specifically mentioned are not granted.

easy peasy, getting a email response is good enough. Retain that email and response just in case!

I would think they would be glad to give you credit. Many magazines and newspapers often do. When a publication does give photo credit, it just plain look more official.

When a publication doesn't do that anywhere, I think it's just another stock photo. Don't get me wrong, stock photos can be great photos but with a credit or credit list the publication just raised their quality level up a notch.

Basically a website should also unless they themselves have taken the photo.

Ask if he is going to make a profit from your photosÂ…or is he using the photos just as a supplement to the story. Then, you can decide what to ask. And I would tell him, yes, you can use my photos for your article as long as i get "NAMED CREDIT."
But, if he is using them to make a profit, then you would like a percentage of the profit and also named credit.

Polite and friendly really doesn't enter the picture here. Tell it like it is. Don't be so politically correct. Just tell him it's fine but only if he gives you credit for the photos. Get it in writing.
