Sometimes it takes the brain a few minutes to register what one's eyes are seeing. I had stopped to shoot the bell-tower and gingerbread at the top of the Inland Baptist Church, thinking it would make a nice close-up study. I backed up to get a wider view of the structure just so I would have plenty of real-estate to choose from in cropping what I wanted. It's then that I read the small print at the bottom right of the image (I urge you to read it too).

Stop-n-go has taken on a whole new meaning.

Great shot of a beautiful church. As for the drive thru prayer- You should come to Spartanburg SC and see the Beacon Restaurant. On Sundays they close and have sermons blasted on the outdoor speakers for folks who park in the parking lot to listen. At least I assume they are still doing that. That place has been doing this for what seems like 100 years. I first heard about it at least 20 yrs. ago.

I am a local minister and I have seen all kinds of things such as drive thru communion during Lent. Or taking the elements for communion to the street and offering it to passers by.

Thanks pgr. My sister who has lived in the area for more than 30 years says she passes this church regularly and never noticed the sign. I guess it takes a photographer's eye to notice the irony in the surroundings.

Thank you Rowedeane. I had never seen one like this either. Just to get the full experience, I actually drove into the drive-thru, a wide ramped driveway that passes directly in front of the church door.

Thank you for your comment ncshutterbug. My daughter lives in Mauldin, not far from Spartanburg ..... I may have to check it out. I'd love to take a longshooter and capture the expressions on people's faces as they are listening to the sermon.

Thank you Paula. Without meaning any disrespect to the actual church my imagination took off on a flight of fancy and I pictured deacons on rollerskates coming out of the church at the beep of a horn.

Beautiful church. But what a shame people can not take the time to go inside. I mean a drive through. That is just sad.

Thanks Doddy. To be truthful, I never thought I'd see this in northern Michigan. Las Vegas, maybe, but not in the mid-west.

Thanks Camshy. I agree with, you would think people could share a little more decorum.
