A buddy sent me the link to this video clip demonstrating one of the lesser-acknowledged hazards of nature photography.

This is not a recommended practice! I know of a 3/4 ton chevy pickup that got T-boned by a mature bull - put 3 holes through the rear quarter panel and pushed it off the road. Even yearling spike bulls could kill you with those daggers. This guy was just playing around, thank God!

Sure it was. He's a good buddy and he knew I'd enjoy this clip. I think it was very smart of him to send it to me.

He should not have been out of car, but I would have tried to get shots, guy is lucky he did not get skewered, elk was not so lucky, he was killed for the thoughtless action of people and photographers, that's what god made long lenses for, keep distance from wild animals.

This was posted some time back and the conclusion was they had to put the animal down. This was not the first time he had contact with people and was quite aggressive. The photographer was wrong in my opinion in his actions. IMHO. Cheers.
