Illinois vs. Oklahoma --- Basic Rocket Science 101

This is very worth reading. AT THE END OF THIS YOU WILL SEE SNOPES SAID IS TRUE

Illinois vs Oklahoma

These two e-mails, the first about Illinois and the second about Oklahoma, made an interesting contrast . . .

"A State with No Republicans!" Very interesting... Makes ya wanna move there, doesn't it? (Not!) A wonderful state with zero Republicans - The Great State of Illinois.

Part 1---Illinois

Some interesting data on the State of Illinois ... There are more people on welfare in Illinois than there are people working. Chicago pays the highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S. averaging $110,000/year. Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what? Be sure to read till the end. I've never heard it explained better. Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago? Body count: In the last six months, 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago. 221 killed in Iraq; AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.

Here's the Chicago chain of command: President: Barack Hussein Obama • Senator: Dick Durbin • House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr. • Governor: Pat Quinn • House leader: Mike Madigan • Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike) • Mayor: Rohm Emanuel • The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats. • Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. • Of course, they're all blaming each other. • Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any! • Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us?

George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in prison.

He was replaced by Rob Blagoyavic who is, that's right, also in prison.

And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago, because he is fighting to not be sent to... that's right, prison.

The Land of Lincoln, where our governors make our license plates. What?

As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago, nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.

"Anybody who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian."
Don’t forget Detroit, another good example…

PART 2---Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA - may soon have plenty of new residents!
THIS IS REALLY INTERESTING, AND TRUE ... PLEASE READ IT!

Oklahoma is the only state that Obama did not win even one county in the last election... While everyone is focusing on Arizona’s new law, look what Oklahoma has been doing!!!

An update from Oklahoma:

Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9 an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values... HB 1330

Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.

Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal's to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Madam Pelosi said it was unconstitutional SB 1102

Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.

More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Carolina's, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003

The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a setback for the criminals. The Liberals didn't like it -- But....

Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that ALL drivers’ license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language. They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only. If you want to drive in Oklahoma, you must read and write English. Really simple.

By the way, the Liberals don't like any of this either

Guess what... who cares... Oklahoma is doing it anyway.

If you like it, pass it on, if you don't then delete it... Thanks

Guess what: the people I'm sending this to will send it on. Well, at least the ones who love and believe in freedom will.

Yes I read those Snopes items. And I really hesitated about doing this due to the length, but here goes -- I'm not trying to offend anyone, just trying to say that this 4-5 year old email that never dies isn't completely accurate and paints a picture that doesn't really exist regarding Oklahoma.

Let’s take a closer look:

1. Ten Commandments – Oklahoma HB 1330 - that legislation passed in 2009, and the monument (6’ x 3’) was installed in November 2012. It required that the monument be constructed & installed using private funds – no tax $$. It was installed on the side of a sidewalk near the north entrance of the Capitol, which has been closed for years and still is closed – thus it really isn’t going to be seen by many.

2. Oklahoma HB 1804 was passed & signed by the Governor in May 2007, but enforcement was suspended by legal challenges until the OK Supreme court ruled part of it admissible in Jun 2011. They struck down the provision which denied bail to illegal immigrants arrested on felony counts or DUI. This law did NOT have provision “to incarcerate all illegal immigrants and ship them back to where they came from unless they get a green card and become an American citizen”; there was no rush exodus from Oklahoma and they did not “all scatter”. Section 5 of HB1804 requires that any State or local law enforcement agency which arrests a person for a felony or for driving under the influence must check the citizenship status of the person so arrested. Any person who cannot be verified as a legal resident of the United States must be reported to the United States Department of Homeland Security. You can find a better and more complete summary at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HB1804

3. Oklahoma HB 1102 – signed into law by the Governor in May 2009, requires DNA sample collection from illegal immigrants arrested for a crime ….. not from all illegals as claimed. DNA can also be collected from anyone convicted of certain felonies.

4. Oklahoma’s sovereignty – this is not/was not a LAW – it was joint resolution (which doesn’t carry the weight of law) passed by the Oklahoma Legislature in 2009 and vetoed by the Governor. In response, the Legislature then passed a concurrent resolution on the matter, which doesn’t require the governor’s signature. In essence, all it does is reaffirm the state’s rights under the 10th Amendment, just confirming what’s already written in the U.S. Constitution – not stating any desire or intent to secede from the union.

5. Handguns & Guns in Cars – In 2009 a Federal Appeals court upheld an Oklahoma law saying employers must permit employees to keep guns in their locked cars at work if they wish. The law was actually passed in two stages in 2004 and 2005, but it had been blocked by a Tulsa judge’s court order in 2007. It’s worth noting that it was a federal judge that overturned an Oklahoma judge’s order on this one. In 2012, the Oklahoma Concealed Carry Law was amended to allow Open Carry, and Oklahoma became one of 44 states allowing some form of open carry when this change in the concealed carry law (SB-1733) became effective on 11-1-12. Everyone with a concealed carry permit automatically became eligible to carry open if they desired.

6. Drivers License Exams -- In 2007, the state was sued by an Iranian couple who wanted to take an Oklahoma driver’s license test in Farsi. The state was already providing drivers license tests in both English and Spanish. This lawsuit was a wake-up call as to potential costs facing the state if they tried to provide tests in every applicant’s native language. The English only effort cleared the Oklahoma House in 2009 but had resistance in the state Senate. As a result, it went to the voters in form of a state constitutional amendment and was passed in 2010.

While Snopes is a good and valid resource, they also often don't tell the whole story perhaps due to limited resources, or any one of many reasons. A quick Google search on any of the topics in the original item will turn up loads of articles & commentaries about the inaccuracies.

It seems that truth also is in the eye of the beholder. I read it on the internet so it has to be true. The lesson here is don't rely on some one else to do your fact checking.

Here in Arizona we just went to conceal carry for everyone a few years back, saves a lot of money and paperwork and time for everybody involved, the CCW permit was a pain in the ass!
I prefer this to open carry for a few reasons.

That link is not clear to me !
Here in AZ we always had the right to open carry, no license required, now we have concealed carry, no license required and you can of course open carry if you like too.
I hate all this legislation most states have...just more bureaucracy and money money money....screw it !
