I get a little uneasy when you use the word 'comrade'.

Go back and read Nagy. It might change your mind. Along with my experience with Rix, Remoman and a few others.

No thanks. Over the past 6 months I've read enough to make up my mind. Sure, there are those on both sides that lapse into emotional rhetoric. But this fellow Nagy (who some have compared me to, unfavorably) can't hold a candle to the angry posters of the conservative persuasion when it comes to character assassination. And there certainly seems to be many more members of this forum who are openly Right Wing, flag waving, Tea Party supporting Americhristians than any other persuasion. I'm sure that my saying that means, for many, that I am socialist, flag burning, America hating, Muslim loving, Lefty.

And this reactionary mentality even creeps into the supposedly non-political photo forums and contests. Which makes sense, because I am beginning to see that the biggest demographic here, one that has the time to spend on this hobby, and the thousands of dollars to spend (waste?) on equipment year in and year out is the same one that Fox News and Glenn Beck cater to: prosperous American retirees.

I cannot hope to understand a person (President) who appears blind to the needs of his own constituency while lavishly spending their money elsewhere. He and I are, apparently, on different planets.

I really don't want to keep giving him money...he is NOT a wise spender!

But since you brought it up you are a racist! Redneck really don't care.

I personally don't like bigots or racists.

I hope you associate with people of like minds.

Tell me where do you buy your sheet and hood?

Unfortunately ole sarg, his comments are not due to racism or bigotry. It comes from simple common sense. If your own country is not up to par so to speak, then you fix it first, THEN you can be charitable to others.

Well, we have historical examples of just that you will likely approve of: France's assisting us in the Revolution and our assisting Britain with the Lend Lease act. Neither France nor the US at the respective times were exactly sitting pretty, financially or politically.

You should read all the facts before you make dumb racist comments. Obama is not giving any money to anyone. "Obama phones" as some people call them was a program started during the bush years. But a lot of what's said on here is not true and people just buy into it. Yea the hell with the rest of the world or anyone else who is poor huh? Hell they aren't any worth helping because they love getting free two or three hundred dollar welfare check right a month. Why work when you can live in squalor for free.if you're poor at least you get a free phone right, who needs food, or clothes or health care. Yes that's the christian way.

This topic has nothing to do with "Christian anything". Please keep you hatred of Christians to yourself.

Well, that depends. And his comment is not necessarily anti-Christian but perhaps self examining, if he happens to be a Christian himself. I am a Christian (though at times I find that difficult to admit) and happen to agree with this quote, attributed to Jimmy Carter:

"If you don't want your tax dollars to help the poor, then stop saying that you want a country based on Christian values, because you don't'."

And their opinions have pretty much been the same for the last 30 years or so. Don't change anything because it might disturb their precious pristine white heterosexual bible thumping world. You know how things like abortions and same sex marriages will totally disrupt their precious lives and property. They won't be able to go out of the house to take pictures for fear that they may be accosted by insurgents of "change". Not all change is good, but you would think that issues like basic human rights would make reasonable sense. But alas, everything put on here is an argument which usually results in insults and name calling. Real mature for an older bunch, huh? And posting a fellow UHH's picture next to that of Hitler and calling him a Jew hater is the lowest I have seen so far. These people are mean bullies if you don't agree with them, and they have no shame whatsoever. I have been called everything from "officious jerk" to "illiterate redneck" because someone didn't agree with me about something I gave my opinion about. It really doesn't matter what side you are on, someone will have an issue because they have nothing better to do. They should be out taking pictures, but they choose to sit in and stay on this website and cause trouble every single day.

President Obama announced to the UN Millennium Development Goals summit in September 2010 that the United States was changing its policy towards foreign aid. The President said the country would focus more on effectiveness, and make sure donated food, medicine, and money help countries get to the point where they no longer require such aid.

That comment is true.

Does anyone really believe that? I believe Americans for the most part are a very generous and caring people. The topic referred to the fact that Obama is an overspender to the point of putting our financial security in jepardy. We should be concerned. Shouldn't we? Maybe not so much for ourselves but for our children and their children.

Each state determines, partly based on federal guidelines, and partly determined by state prerogative, how much each recipients check will be worth. There are formulas that each state puts into place to make this process unbiased and objective, which generally involves determining your income, compensating for your particular expenses, and dividing by a certain factor. Typically, a person earning an income of $1,500 to $2,000 per month-a level of income that would generally make a person with children or other dependents eligible for TANF-could expect to get a check for somewhere between $350 and $450 per month.
Cash allowance benefits for financial assistance will also be state regulated and allowances paid will also vary based on different criteria. However, an average expectation can be placed on a family of 4 receiving up to $900 for their TANF allowance.

A basic average guideline for the food stamp program (SNAP) will show that an average family of 4 can expect an amount up to $500 per month for food stamps.
These allowance benefits would be separate from any additional welfare benefits received such as child care, medical or utility assistance.
Allowance benefits vary in what is paid out to individuals or families for any of the welfare programs. As each state regulates their own SRS programs, payment allowances will vary from state to state based on geography, cost of living and employment/educational opportunities within that state.
Again, these figures are averages and not state specific.

Tell me what the Christian way is. Is that like the American way. These are basic propaganda terms that mean nothing.
Who could say anything bad about the Christian way or the American way? Problem is they don't have a definition. Also, the Christians do not have the market cornered on goodness, compassion, love, caring, etc. These traits existed long before Christ was born. They are also the basis of many other religions. There are more than 730 established religions in the world which are broken out into more the 3200 different sects. Other sources say there are 4200.

What does it say for your position when you resort to ad hominem arguments? Usually one of two things: your position is unsupportable or you lack the facts to support it.
I also believe there are two criteria.

1.) The posters position is unsupportable
and he lacks the facts to support his position.
2.) The person that the poster is referring to is actually an idiot.
