For the past few days, I've been getting pop-up boxes saying, "Important Message: Your PC Performance is Poor." I get them on UHH and everywhere else. Is anyone else getting these? Yes, I know is a worthless ad.

My uneducated guess is that you already have some script running, or a cookie accessing something. I'd clear out history and all cookies, then run all your virus, anti spyware programs to try to clean it up.

My wife was getting those for a while, she never even clicked anything, and eventually nothing worked. Had to take it in and get it cleaned. Cost almost as much as a new laptop.

Thanks. I hate clearing out cookies because it makes signing in to sites a nuisance, but I guess I'll have to do it.

Just a question....do you use a "pop up blocker" or an "add blocker" in your browser? If so...did it get disabled?

Yes, and it's turned on. I don't actually got pop-ups in the traditional sense, just these advertising windows like we get on UHH. But, on UHH I'll have three or more of those "PC" windows.

MWB got rid of 15 items, but didn't solve my problem.

I tried Major Geeks and downloaded a program they recommended. I installed it and ran it. It found lots of "problems," but then it wanted $45 to do the repair. I hate programs like that. If it had said up front that the price was $45, I would have just moved on.

Malwarebytes found 15 items and deleted them. Superantispyware found 254 more. I deleted cookies and restarted - no change in computer behavior.

Jerry, Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx and download this. It is FREE and is from Microsoft. I have used it several times, and it works great. It is called: "Microsoft Safety Scanner". Do the full scan!! Thanks, Boone

If you are getting it only online I would definitely NOT click it. I did that once and wound up having to pay $300 to get the viruses out and salvage my files. If not online when you see it it may be your computer telling you you are using software that takes extra power. Mine says "high cpu usage" when I use Lightroom, etc.
