Any thoughts on the new Kodak PixPo AZ361 bridge camera released today... 36X zoom for $199? Details here: http://kodakcamera.jkiltd.com/docs/Kodak_AZ361_SS_v51.pdf

Among my two Canon DSLRs and four point-n-shoot cameras, I have the Panasonic Lumix FZ47 which I love, but curious about this new camera licensed by JK Imaging LTD. Have never owned a Kodak camera other than perhaps 40 years ago. AND, Let's not just tritely repeat the oft quoted phrase, you get what you pay for, though there is a great deal of truth in that. I know nothing about JK Imaging and wonder if they might be bringing out a Kodak line offering something new or at the least good value at a lower price than other similar much higher priced bridge cameras.... perhaps just to break into the market?

Funny, I just got an email about that. I wish I knew what Kodak was doing. Are they still in business? Are they making cameras? Are they running printing kiosks?

They should decide what they are actually doing and then let the public know. Many people think that Kodak has gone out of business, so buying a camera from a company that has closed down doesn't appeal to them.

I have the same questions Jerry. The link shows that JK Imaging has licensed to produce a new line of Kodak products and apparently this camera, released today, may be the first. Never even gave Kodak serious thought for cameras in recent years as the reviews were quite mediocre. But wondering about this new release by JK Imaging with the Kodak branding name. 36X zoom bridge for only $199?

I'm tired of taking average photos with point and shoot but don't want to spend $1000 to get a better camera. Also very curious about this new Kodak PixPro. Would it be worth a try?

The new camera offered by JK Imaging looks very similar to the Kodak Easyshare Z5120.
I bought the Easyshare about a year ago on Amazon for $199 and absolutely love it. It takes great pictures and is super easy to use. Most of the time i leave it in "PHD" (push here dummy) mode for ease of use but it does have many more features that i am just to lazy to learn how to use.
Putting my vaction pictures next to my sisters pics taken on her $1000 Nikon mine just blow hers away. Im not saying the Nikon isnt a better camera it just that mine is always ready and take great pics in day lite or in a dark bar or around a camp fire. never a bad picture. Best of all it was only $199 so if i break it while taking a video riding a 4 wheeler it doesnt hurt as much. Her Nikon is always in its protective case so when the great picture is there the camera isnt.
So with that said you can now get the Kodak Easyshare Z5120 on Amazon NOW for $131.00 with free shipping. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a very easy camera that takes great pictures.
I am sure the new camera offered by JK imaging would be just as good.

The new camera offered by JK Imaging looks very si... (show quote)

Welcome to our forum.

If the camera isn't ready, it doesn't matter how good it is or how much you paid.

I don't think they are building cameras. Note...using Kodak name under licensing agreement

Kodak makes great cameras at a reasonable price. I own five Kodak cameras.

On January 19, 2012, Eastman Kodak Company and its U.S. subsidiaries filed voluntary petitions for Chapter 11 business reorganization in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The business reorganization will enable Kodak to bolster liquidity in the U.S. and abroad, monetize non-strategic intellectual property, fairly resolve legacy liabilities, and enable the Company to focus on its most valuable business lines.

Non-U.S. subsidiaries are not part of the filings, are not subject to the Court proceedings, and are operating as usual.

This is typical of many companies striving to survive in the USA today. I am confident that Kodak will be making fine cameras in the future.

The PixPro AZ361 may be the start. I have been looking them over and may buy one. I will post a review if I do.

As stated a couple times previously in this thread, the camera is by JK Imaging and licensed by Kodak for the name.

Yes, I am aware of this. This again has something to do with liability and the cost to manufacture, under the big company name, in example (Kodak). Almost all the products sold in the USA are made in other countries.
Remember we the USA are now the (US of China)! So sad for us.

If you look at the big name Guitars, You would be surprised on
who the maker is.

Maybe the Nikon I own is a copy bootlegged into this country.

Makes one think does't it.

My wife take great pics with her Kodak Easyshare Z981 with its 26X zoom. And she loves it. She has had several Kodaks in the past as well.

I find it excruciatingly slow, difficult to use on Manual and with a highly inferior (electronic) viewfinder compared to my Kodak D90's.

Did I mention she takes great pics with it? We just had 16 by 20 prints made and one could not tell which was taken with which, in terms of quality of the prints.

I didn't know that Kodak made a D90? I have had Kodaks since the 40s. Iam now using my Z981...

Check the PIXPRO AZ361again... It does not have a view finder... My Z981 and Z612 do... Also, it does state who makes the lens...
