Yes, I agree.

Ditto - although, if any lens is a jack of all trades, it is a master of none - there is always - it seems to me - a perfect lens for a specific picture or story you are trying to capture. The trick is using the right one (and settings of course!)

I keep just that one lens mounted, carry it slung over one shoulder hanging down, and not encumbered with a shlep sack.
Spare full charge battery in holder on strap, extra 8GB SD card in my pocket. Don't take a lot of night pictures, and don't have an add on flash. Did just get a 45° periscope to attach to the viewfinder, but haven't tried it yet. Easy !

My walk around set-up is a 50 f1.2L. The other 10 percent is a 70-200 f2.8 II

18-270 or 28-300. When I am moving around with out a bag. I will also carry a point and shoot, as a back up. In the bag, I have a number of other lens and will carry a 10-20 or extremely long lens if I think it will be needed.

I have gone to fixed lens from tele-photo due to the high quality from fixed lenses. I use them in low light also and find it very helpful to pick up details and gives me more light during low lighting conditions and a faster shutter speed.

My 24-105 L lense is my first choice and on the camera most of the time. It is stabilized and offers me a fairly wide angle and moderate telephoto. I shoot with a Canon 5d full frame camera.

I use the Canon 28-135 on my 5D and the 70-300 on my 20D seems to work well for me

Either 35/1.4 or 50/1.5.

I'd rather miss a few pictures than faff around with zooms trying to capture EVERYTHING.

Concentrate your vision: don't diffuse it.

Cheers,

R.
