Death Row at Huntsville State Prison............
Huntsville State Prison was established in 1849, located at Huntsville, Texas. All executions in the state are performed at the Huntsville Unit. Texas has had 490 executions since 1976, the most in the nation.
Prisoners that die at the Huntsville State Prison and not claimed by kin folks are buried at the Joe Byrd Cemetery, which is owned by the State of Texas. Each prisoner is provided a simple headstone. At last count, there are just a tab over 2,000 prisoners buried at the cemetery. Tejaswrangler :)

My uncle was an old German ( spooky as all get out and bald headed- big Jimmy Durante nose )and he was a grave digger.
He frightened me so badly with his Ghoulish ways and spooky nonsense that there is no way i would walk a cemetery daylight or nightfall. So, seeing those grave stones sent chills up and down my spine.

kjfishman, Texas left the Union and joined the Confederate States during the Civil War. Prisoners housed at the prison did make uniforms for the confederate soldiers. Thanks for viewing the pictures. Tejaswrangler :)

colo43, I don't go to a cemetery at night, and during the day I try to take someone with me just in the event that there is really such a thing as a ghost. I figure that if a ghost does exist, maybe I will be the one to escape. Tejaswrangler :)

Oh Gawd, just walking thru there and having a hand come up and out of the ground for my ankle would give me a heart attack right on the spot.
I feel a night mare coming on tonight!
:)
Is the death penalty still on the statute books?
