Input...okay.
The yellow lights, colorful uniforms and walls & ceiling all contrast nicely with one another. The subjects, one facing toward the camera, one in profile, create interest in the image. The composition is well balanced, keeps the eye in the photo, has two nice diagonals, the spear, and the lights along the wall. The curves of the ceiling and vertical lines of the wall further pull the whole image together and add additional interest.
The main subjects are sharp and clear while the background has a pleasant softness, making for excellent separation. The lighting and exposure are near perfect.
All in all a strong, technically correct, visual image with impact and interest.
A contest winner.

do not let the attire fool you, those Vatican "guards" are elite Swiss solders, highly trained and the Vatican is consider an Honor post. Like the US army troops in DC who make up the "old regiment: and guard the tomb of the unknown solders. Back in Midevil days the Swiss mercenary had a tough reputation, and in one of the numerous peace treaties Switzerland was banned from providing troops to anywhere other then the Vatican. I believe either Michelangelo or DaVinchi had designed their uniform.
Love the opposing figures, creates conflict in the shot which creates interest. Love the lines, arches, etc. Light on left guards shoulder is a bit distracting as it makes my eye wander there.
thank you guys for your input
