Here's what I was photographing - a bunch of camera parts. OK, OK, it's not great art. I just grabbed what was handy.

My other hobby is machining; I design and make camera
equipment. Have three metal lathes and a sorry mill-drill.
Photo of my panorama mount.

Very nice! What kind of mill-drill do you have? I only ask because I've been thinking of getting one that Harbor Freight sells (see [http://www.harborfreight.com/two-speed-variable-bench-mill-drill-machine-44991.html]).

Nice job, but did you spend more than $65 in parts and labor for which you can buy a complete unit? Nevertheless, the pleasure of building and designing a part by yourself is priceless. Good work!

Amazing, you did a great job both in disigning it and making it

Since you are accustom to making jigs making this should be no problem for you. The reason I use the pre-drilled square tube is to help insure that the rails (aluminum tubing) is perfectly parallel. If they are not parallel the camera platform will bind and not move at all.

What's not clearly visible in the photo is that I used a block of hardwood (oak) that I tapped for the 5/16th thread bolt used for focusing. Note: I tapered a large washer via a file so it gets thinner on one half in order to wedge it behind the threaded block of wood. I did this so there would be no front to back movement of the camera mount platform.
