Problem with battery grip on canon eos 600d

I bought an aftermarket battery grip for my Eos 600d several months ago and have had no problems with it until today. Whenever I switch the battery grip on the LCD screen goes blank and the flash starts firing and lense tries focusing without me touching the camera. If i switch battery grip off again all returns to normal. Any thoughts on what could be wrong.

Considering the value of that camera, I'd get the grip off and find the problem before putting it back on.

Have you also checked all the contacts and made sure they are clean? Just a thought...

There probably is a button cell battery in the grip that needs replacing. Your instruction sheet for the grip should make reference to how to replace this battery.

Bin the grip. Replace it with a Canon grip.

If none of the above suggestions rectify the situation, send it back to the manufacturer. it is obviously malfunctioning.

I use some aftermarket products. They work well and ar3e much less costly that canon products. Just be sure you get them from a reputable supplier and not from Imaknockoff. Their products often malfunction. ;-)

I've had an after market grip on my T2i for over a year now with no issues. If a product works I don't care who's name is on it. It just saves me money for better glass.
