I am working on a retirement gift for my father-n-law. I plan to take one of these images and transfer it to a large piece of wood. Just curious which one you would use and feel free to edit and show your vision. Be creative! I am about to start editing them all. My vision is more rustic, almost painted on the wood and sanded away. All of the images were taken with 50mm 1.4 at f/9 ISO100 A 1/500
Thanks in advance for your input!

Started with #3, I will go to #1 next. What do you think of the sky?

I have not graduated to the PP yet, but to me the sky looks great in this post.
So did your husband hijack your father-n-law's boat or is it his son's boat he would like a picture of?

Thank you! I wish it was ours, maybe better that we get the perks without to cost. He hijacked it for the picture. We almost got caught. :D

Good suggestions all. The only thing i can add is make the horizon straighter.

Thanks for the tip, noticed after I posted the before and afters. Here are my adjustments to the horizon.
Thanks again!

Now is all this attention to detail going to show up on a burned on wood presentation?

Good question! I think so. It's called a transfer, so you print the picture on thin paper and gel it to the wood and wipe away the paper (long story short) :) attached a sample

Great idea for a gift, I'm sure he will love it. Here's a couple of variasions which may work on wood.

Great ideas VINNIE B! I am thinking the 2nd one is close to what it will end up looking like. You can make it look as distressed or clean as you like. Thank you for your ideas!

Thats a great story, I have a small boat and think the idea is wonderfull and thoughtfull. I always have to figure in the cost of GAS when I invite family or friends for a day out on the lake on my wifes Boat, at least she claims it is hers.

The sky is cool but the horizon is slightly crooked.

#1 I would flip it so it is going right to left. When looking at a newspaper or picture we look at the right side first. Just my thought. all are great pictures. - Dave

I have to disagree with the flip it idea. First of all, in our culture we look in the same manner as we read; i.e., left to right and top to bottom. But, more importantly in this case a horizontal flip will cause the name of the the boat to read backwards. . .not a good idea for a gift of the boat owner.

I agree. All that is needed is a crop that allows more space in front of the boat than behind.
On the other hand all this might be down to personal taste. :?

Vote for number two ! Use levels adjustment to darken slightly, and sharpen to 80%.

What a wonderful idea for a gift - your father-in-law will treasure it. You are getting plenty of good advice here so I won't add more, but please post a picture of the finished product ... And maybe a picture of your father-in-law opening it ;)

Sky looks good........but the horizon line needs a slight adjustment to the left.
