The guy at the camera shop if correct. Sand, dirt and mold can get under those snap on protectors. Even a cellphone case will collect dirt and scratch the phone if not kept clean. Here is the solution and it works for me. At least once a week snap off the protector and clean it as well as the LCD screen. Do this after every shoot if you are in a dirty/dusty environment. Clean it regularly and you should have no problems. I have not so far .....

I was wondering about a screen protector for my canon T4I. I recieved some included in my new camera package and after applying one, there seemed to be a lot of bubbles between the protector and the screen.I could not get them out so i just took it off,the protector that is. I have seen how some screen protectors are put in place on smart phone where they use a drop of solution of which i believe is distilled water. Can this be used to apply the screen protector? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks,Tim

I use protectors on all my LCDs. The only one I ever buy is zagg - http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/index.php?gclid=CKWZkbm37LICFQKe4AodZhsARg.

Thanks for the information Jerry. I checked the web page, was impressed with the product and ordered one for my D300S, thanks again.

Amazon sells them - http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/index.php?gclid=CKWZkbm37LICFQKe4AodZhsARg
What I do not is get the protector for an iPad and cut pieces to fit other devices. It's much cheaper that way.

These Zagg shields are very tough, yet they're easy to apply. Just follow the directions. If you mess up, you can peel it off and try again. Just be sure to use lots of the spray on your fingers. As for bubbles, you will have some after the installation, but they will go away - unless they're very large.

If your camera has the snap-on plastic protector, use that, too. I ever take mine off.

I'm also looking for a new screen saver too. I have a D300S which has a plastic cover on the back (that I love), but my new D4 dose'n't come with a screen saver at all and I really need to get something. I'm scared to death I'm going to accidentlly going to scratch it all up so I've been super careful until I get one so thanks ya'll for all the info........

I second the vote for glass protectors. I have them on my Canon 5DII and backup and they are very effective and easy to install.

Sounds like a great idea. Why not tape all the way around to keep dust etc... from getting between the two???

I use the Delkin Pop-Up Shade on my 50D. Works great, protects the screen and is a great shade for viewing. I got mine at B&H. I am not sure if it is available for the 4ti yet.

I use Vello glass protectors; about $25-30. I have a snap-on on one camera and an adhesive on another - both work seamlessly. Glass is the way to go.

See if GGS digital camera professional makes one for your camera. They are made of optical glass very very thin but only ad hear around the edges. I have had mine on mt T2i for over two years my daughters t1i for about a year they are still in like new condition .

My camera has a flip screen so I do not think these will work as it may be too thick so I would not be able to flip the screen closed. Thanks anyway

Thanks for the discussing. i just ordered the ones designed for the iPhone to use on the new D600. The screen on my D90 has permanent scratches from the dust, etc. that got under the plastic pop-off protector that came with the camera.

Thank you for bringing it up. My new D600 will show up this next week and I forgot about screen protectors which now I also have ordered from Power Support though they are made for the I-phone also.

Mine should arrive from Crutchfield on Tuesday. I have some Zagg material I'll use, although I never remove that plastic cover from the LCD.

I have a Canon EOS 5D MKII, 7D, an NEX-5N, NEX-7 and an RX-100. I have LCD protectors on all of them. I use Vello (from BHPhotoVideo) except for the RX-100 (Sony). They're custom fit, easy to install & easy to remove (I cracked the screen on my 5N & had to replace it). If you break the protector, you're out a few bucks. If you break the screen, you're screwed.
