Can you imagine what it would be like if when you passed through the pearly gates you discovered that they were all there, budda reclining in the corner feeding his face, jesus appealing to the crowds with party tricks, Mohammad getting angry because he is not being taken seriously enough by the women etc etc, you get my drift, chaos.

Which, oddly enough, is what members of other religions would say about your "mixed up thinking."

With the contradictory nature of the world's religions, it seems apparent they can't all possibly be right (unless god is the greatest practical joker of all time... and maybe he is), but they can all certainly be wrong.

I wish I could see the look on your face when you get to the Pearly Gates to discover that Allah is god.

I'm afraid he has you on this one Ted. Dolly was created from a somatic cell. It was as he says a life created from a snippet of life already existing. (like she was manufactured, not created) What he deems creation Ted, is the Cecil B. DeMille version. You know, from high in the heavens above, God reached out his hand and said, Let there be sheep. And wham .... there came the sheep, bibles in hand, shouting out the glory of god ....

Fair enough! I think the exact quote was "God reached out his hand and said, Let there be sheep and Rednecks to love them."

Hal I am not a good speller either, I always knew what you were saying so your spelling was never an issue. You sound like a good man, I too have a sick wife. I tend to get carried away in debates and always feel bad later. I apologize if I offended you. Take Care!

Thank you. You are a formadble oponent. We will take this up again some time. I know most of you are working people and need your rest. I on the other hand do not. Im 82 and have been retired since 93 and love it. I also have a very sick wife and Im up most all night any way and love the patter on this thing. Late at night is mostly the only time I get to get onboard. Even back when I worked full time I never got more than 4 or 4 1/2 hours sleep a night. And never felt tired. I guess it is in the gines. As you may have seen I never was a good speller. I was always the first on out of a spelling bee in school.

This about the cloned sheep named Dolly. The article does not show that they created anything. cloned not created. There is a big difference between cloning, and lab controlled gene splicing and creating. So, far, even after looking up your article on the cloned sheep, I still have not seen any proof that man has 'created life'.

Of course not. Faith is not necessary when facts are in evidence.

You never met my second mother-in-law.

Have you been to Sedona? They have a light ordnance there. No street lights, and lighted signs can only be so tall. Pretty dark around there at night.

Yes Dennis, of course I have been there. Many days and many nights. It is not a good Astrophotography spot. It does have light pollution, and the geographic layout does not give great sky access except from the airport and there you are above the light so no good. Why are you such a contentious know it all about everything? Did no one like you as a child? Go back to your hometown of Pickle City, IL and suck some of those sour pickles.

I might ask why you're such an asshole. Here I am trying to have a reasonable discussion with you and you resort to your usual bad manners. I think it is you who have no friends and everyone can see why. You're just pathetic.

That question is a good one...

You tell me. I don’t know too much about them but to continue to ask more questions.

They have been described as a 'living organism’ lacking even the basic cellular structure.

It has been said that a virus lies in a total ‘lifeless state’ until it is around a favorable cellular host then the ‘virion’ is able to replicate itself using the host’s metabolism.

They lack even the most basic of structure which most characterize as life. They are acellular. In order for a virus to replicate it must successful react and hi-jack the proper host cell to replicate itself.
Some have felt that they are a more complex biochemical mechanism than ‘living organism’ and some do not.

"Viruses exist in two distinct states. When not in contact with a host cell, the virus remains entirely dormant for long periods of time or as some would say ‘non living’, nothing more than a mere static ‘organic’ particle many refer to as a ‘virion’.

However when a virion comes into contact with a suitable host, even though not a ‘living organism’ it displays the characteristics of what some characterize as a ‘living entity’.

The debate as to whether or not they are a living structure continues.

At times they display life like properties, and at times it doesn’t. You tell me, I don’t have the where-with-all to answer this one.

What is considered alive? Crystals can be grown. Some could almost equally ask; are crystals alive? they grow and replicate themselves.

Just curious what you thought. The virus is an interesting intermediate between living and non-living chemistry. The perfect DNA delivery system.
